15" wheels Dilemma with tires.
Ok, i bought a set of wheels of craigslist last year, then i took the car for inspection and 2 of the tires on the wheels needed to be change.
I went and put back the Steelies which had good thread on the tires and haven't change back to the wheels because i need 2 new tires but i might as well buy all 4.
Now here is the Dilemma im having, the tires on the wheels are 195-50-15 they are mounted on a 15x7, i check tirerack and it gives me 185-60-15, which is the directed size which is the ones on my steelies that im riding on right now.
I was thinking of ordering 4 tires for the wheels in size 195-60-15 to smooth the ride some, can i go up to 60 with a 195 or will it rub the wheel-well.
Does any body out there using 15x7 on their xB, if so what size can i go with, other then 195-50.
Thank you.

You could go with a 195/60 tire, the overall diameter is 1.53" more on the 60 than the 50 so you shouldn't have any problems unless you have a massive drop. It might look funny with such big tires in such small rims but if you're not worried about that then I'd say go for it. The ride might improve a little.

Yeah i know i thought of the big 60 to a 15 wheel, maybe i will go 195-55, it might be safer if i stay close to the 50.
What makes the ride smoother, i have heard is the big tire and also i have heard its the brand of tire.
You go small on tires you will fell the bumps, you go cheap on tires they dont ride as smooth.
is it both?

its probably a little of both...I know if you get a low profile tire you're gonna feel everything, but also if you get too high of a profile tire its gonna give too much in turns and its gonna make your cornering feel very loose so you have to find a size in the middle that will give you good handling and a decent ride...I think the 195/55 would be a great choice, it would look good and perform good as well.

I asked him if they were 17X7 and his answer was.
they are 17inch diameter rims and they are 7inches wide i am certain.
So i guess that will make it 17X7 right, so i will have to look for 205/45/17 tires.
This is what they look like.
