Default Extended Wheel Studs

Putting some new wheels and tires on my fiancee's xA. Got some 5mm spacers to clear the brakes in front, but the lug nut doesnt grab enough thread, so I'm gonna install some longer wheel studs as per Mink99's Installing Longer Wheel Studs article. Seems pretty straightforward.

Anyway, my question is, based on the pictures below, would a 55mm thread length stud be the best length to get? I was looking at some Ichiba ones on eBay. I don't want it to stick out too much because I might later put on some closed lug nuts that will look nicer than these fugly pieces. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

I believe the stock wheel stud length is 40mm on the xa?

I remember a forum with this info, but can't find it right now.

So 40mm + 8mm (for spacer) should work. From the looks of the picture, it seems about 1/4" of threads left, which is a little more than 6mm.

My guess, go with a 48 - 50mm

Thanks for the reply! I did some research, including calling my local Toyota Scion dealer. They couldn't tell me the size on ANYTHING! But I found that the front is indeed 40mm and the rear is 37mm. Can anybody more knowledgable than I confirm the info for the rear? Thanks.

Also, I ended up going with 50mm studs. I'll put those in the front and then put the 40mm from the front out back to give myself a little more thread space back there.

Glad that you installed new longer studs. That photo looked scary with no threads protruding past the nut. If you are interested in upgrading to some serious wheel studs consider purchasing some wheel studs from ARP. They are better than anything being offered on the market.

I am currently using ARP p/n 100-7718 (toyota celica). Another option is the ARP p/n 100-7717 (mitsu lancer EVO). Same size and thread pitch as stock. 12M x 1.5.

Thanks! ARP is definitely quality stuff! I use their cylinder head bolts for my mustang. best stuff out there.

I'm gonna do the rears of the xA this weekend because right now those are grabbing too little thread too.
