Got a nail in my tire...
With a radial tire it is not advisable to plug the hole. The tire should be dismounted and the hole properly patched from the inside. If the hole is within about 1" of the side of the tire the tire should be replaced not repaired. Plugs inserted from the outside of a radial tire tend to get cut off by the belts over time causing the tire to go flat again, an internal patch does not have this tendency.
be careful where you take it... ive had rims scratched while they removed the tires. they werent careful and the machine scrubbed the outside of the lip. if you have expensive rims, take it to a more reputable shop

When I buy tires most places have a roadhazard warrantee for a reasonable price (this pays for any flat repairs...as well as a replacement tires if the tire is damaged beyond repair). On my current 18's the road hazard cost me $10 per tire. So if over the life of the tire I get 2 flat tires on my set of 4 I broke even. Hmmm let me see...so far in 8k miles I have had 1 flat repair a screw, 1 flat tire a nail (this one was right next to the sidewall so they replaced the tire...when they do this you generally have to re-pay the road hazard warrantee, so I paid $10 that time and got a new tire). So for $50 for road hazard on 5 tires (including the replacement) I got a $20 flat repair and a $165 tire...not a bad deal!!...and I am still covered for road hazard on all 4 tires for the life of the tread. (note they do prorate replacements under these warrantees...usually after %50 wear...still better than full price if you have a failure, or hit a curb or whatever).
