Headlight Armor - Night Headlight Film Testing Photos!
A lot of you may have seen our sponsor banner and wondered what you headlights might look like at night done in a different shade. Or perhaps you have seen a car at a show with some form of colored or tinted lighting protection kit. Well here is what ours look like at night. All photos were done with the same vehicle, parked in the same spot over the span of an hour or so.
Keep in mind that taking night photos is a challenge and depending on your eyes, your vehicles existing lighting your results may vary. The stock / Clear, HID Blue along with the GT Yellow are very close to what they looked like in person. For the Smoke the camera over compensated just a bit on light metering but we left all photos completely unaltered (aside from re-sizing them to fit on the page) so that the various options are as comparable as possible given the constraints of the technology. The photo with one side smoked and one side clear shows the reduction in brightness the smoke covers generate. Of note the depth and pattern of the beam didn't really change at all. The biggest change with all of the colors was what it did to drivers’ perception of the road.
Test Conditions
Camera - Nikon 4600
Camera Setting - Night Landscape
Photo Editing - None (just resized)
Test Vehicle - 2006 Subaru - Stock Halogen Headlight Bulbs
From left to right: Low beams from in front of the vehicle, low beams from inside, and high beams from inside
Base Line - Stock / Clear Headlight Protection Kit

HID Blue Headlight Protection Kit
