Hi,

Has anybody converted the infamous TYC tails to LED bulbs ?

I like how the LED Reverse bulbs lite up the pure whites at night.... The Red Tail/Stops LED bulbs look nice too...

Hi again...

So I took the plunge and ordered some LED bulbs for the TYC's I am going to install soon...

The main limitation is that the TYC holes are 1.00 inch diameter.... Many LED bulbs are wider than that so it limits your choices just a bit.

I ordered a pair of the (1156 socket) 68 White LED towers for the reverse lamps.... and a a pair of the (1157 socket) 18 LED super Red ones for the Brake / Parking lamps....

I am leaving the turn signal bulbs in native incandescent mode for now....not feeling the urge to hassle with load resistors after having to re-create the wiring harnesses from scratch....

Hi,

Well, I think I have run in to a little annoyance with the use of LED bulbs in these tails....

Apparently all 1157 LED bulbs are not the same.... It seems many that fit the 1157 socket are not actually DUAL circuit in nature. These tails use an 1157 (DUAL-Filament) bulb for the Brake light AND the Parking Light. The 1157 LED bulbs I bought, silly me, are DUAL Contact, but NOT DUAL circuit.... They light up nicely for the Brake Circuit....but no joy for the Parking light circuit.... 8-(

Good thing I bought some Incandescent bulbs for my wiring harness project....

Have to see what the seller has to say about my LED bulbs having any dual circuit ability....
