Default auto off headlights?

I keep hearing conflicting reports about the xB headlights----will they turn off automatically? If not, is there a way to make them automatic? My dealer had NO idea.

They do not turn off automatically. There is a way to make them turn off, but not a feasible one.

You guys are speedy! I guess I'll just have to get used to turning them off myself---although my biggest worry probably will be remembering to turn them ON.

There is an aftermarket system you can install to automatically turn your headlights on at dusk, and then it will turn them off after you turn the ignition off with a short delay. Its pretty much the same as a factory auto on and off system.

You could also wire your headlights to only get power when the key is in. . . but that can be a bad idea too.

what is the downside of the simple, old way: a headlight relay switch interupting the headlight current whenever the ignition is -off-.

seems -simple to do- but I have not studied Scion electrics nor any modern car electrics. I -did- do some pretty nifty and unique electricals to my old henry ford coupe: keyless ignition combination lock. Relay to run the headlights either in parallel on 12v, or in -series- for 6V guard-glo (daytime running mit der low current drain to ease the puny generator's work.

so.. can't such simple things as relays be put into a scion headlight circuit?
(me needs to get thescion shop manuals on disk!)
