Default blower motor died, need help replacing

I am new to your board and new to XB ownership. I have a 2005 XB that is no longer under warranty. AC/ Heater Blower motor has gone out, need to replace, dealer says the dash has to be disassembled to get the blower motor out, is this correct? Can someone on here let me know if there is a easy way to get that blower motor out for replacement? I have tried to locate this problem elsewhere in your forum but can't find it listed and cannot find anything else on line about this repair.

thanks

I dont know exactally where the heater blower is located, but I do know how to get the dash off completely. Just let me know if that is what you are looking for... I am pretty sure that if you know how to use basic tools you can do the entire thing by yourself. Save yourself a bunch of money and do it yourself.

go into the shop manual and see how too step by step. You might only have to pull the glove box. The blower is def. under the dash and should be pretty easy.

The blower motor is under the dash on the passenger side behind the glove box. If I take out the glove box I can see the white housing for the blower motor assembly. I can take out the interior air filter holder which is on top of the the assembly and actually see the blower cage down in the assembly, but I cannot figure out how to get it out. I am new on here and tried to go to the repair manual for help , but could not figure out how to look up blower replacement. I cannot believe that Scion would make it real difficult to repalce something like this and that maybe there is a simple way to get it apart that I have not found yet.

Any luck/updates to this problem? I'm really surprised that a blower motor could go bad so soon.

don't know if it would help much or not but you may also need to take the top of the dash off as well.

Yep, we did have to take the entire dash and console apart to get that blower motor out! Hope no one else has to repalce one anytime soon, it is a lot of work if you have never done one before. Lotk=ts of little plastic things in there that can be broken easily. But it is back together now and I have heat again.
