Default A/C on all the time?

When I turn the temperature dial all the way to the left on my '05 xB, it feels like the A/C is on even though the A/C button is not lit up. It's not ice cold, but definitely colder than ambient temperature and colder than the inside of a black car should be on a sunny day.

Is this a feature of the car where it turns on the A/C partially? Or my imagination? Or, maybe it's simply broken and staying on all the time?

I think he meant that "[my] AC sucks"... I've had problems with brand new cars' AC systems, sometimes a few orings are either faulty, or not properly installed and the freon slowly leaks causing less than adaquite cooling from the AC system.

you know the thing that slides to select recycled air or fresh air? well on my xb when it was one way with ac/vent everything turned off I would still get a small draft from it unless I turned it to the other way, not sure if its recycled or fresh air coming in but one way stopped it for me as I was about to bring it back to the dealer.

sorry I dont know which way and I am not driving the box today but hopefully this is all you are talking about and it does the trick

when set to recirc, it should stop the "draft" you're feeling, then set to outside air or "fresh" air, you'll get air coming trought the vents even though the blower isn't running... all cars I've ever owen have been like that.

Have the 05 XB.

A.C. stays on in the defrost mode weather or not the AC button is set. Air position **** all the way to the right. Otherwise A.C. should stay off if you have the air position **** in any other position and the AC button off.
