if it was at a house check to see if the homeowners insurance will cover the cost.

Hmm, I wonder if that would count for renter's insurance...? Good thing to know!

Why did you leave the faceplate in the car? Were the amp and sub covered? If so, you have no one to blame but yourself. You asked someone to break into you car. It is the sad truth... if someone is able to see your stuff, it can be had in less than a minute...
Sorry man.

The car I had before my xB got broken into as well. 2 12's, my amp, head unit, golf clubs, and some misc. other stuff. Anyways, car insurance covered the whole car stereo because I was able to prove it was permanently attached to the car. As for the golf clubs (only used once...just got for xmas), they would have been covered by homeowners, but they were originally 250 bucks, but then again, so was the homeowners deductable. Needless to say, it was pointless to pay that. Just bought cheaper clubs.

Anything in any car is up for grabs if they know what they're doing.
But you really mean to tell me that you take your faceplate with you wherever you go? Heh, mine is probably safer in my car than in work with me. It's just not practical.

blaming the victim sucks. clearly you mean well, but that comment doesn't help. no one asks to get ripped off or victimized.

our xb was stolen from our driveway--our driveway--but we got it back less wheels and a bunch of personal effects that renter's insurance fortunately covered (note: most car policies only cover a nominal amount of personal possessions. our AAA policy was $250: $50 max for CDs, the balance in clothes. not computers, not bikes, not anything else. essentially your auto policy ONLY covers your auto.)

anyway, believe me when i tell you that we didn't ask anyone to steal from us. but i do ask that the thiefs return, knock on the door, and come clean. i'll be right down to discuss just as soon as i can find the baseball bat...

you don't have to see inside of our house to know that we, like everyone, have a bunch of stuff lying around. that doesn't mean we are asking anyone to clean us out and make our lives more difficult.
