Best I got on a 250-mile tank was 42 mpg, holding 60 mph on the Interstate. Maybe it would have been 52 if I could have held 40 mph.

I’m half way through my 5th tank of gas right now. The following is based only on odometer readings........
I got 35.4 mpg on tank #3, with stock everything. New exhaust and tires and wheels were installed just before fill up with tank #4. Tank #4 was 34.5 mpg.
These results are pretty much an equal mix of highway speeds and city or highway stop and go traffic. On the commute home the fastest speed hit is when I’m on the off ramp.
I have not taken the time to figure out corrections for the new tires size (205/45-17) that I running to see what tank #4 really was. Also, I probably have been a little heavy footed listening to the new exhaust.

29, 31, 29, 32, 36. Uncalibrated - might want to add 1mpg to get a more real number. I'm still not sure how I got the 36, since the previous 32 was the outbound leg of a vacation trip, and the 36 was the return. Maybe I was just more eager to get there than come back. :@)

OTOH, the 32 included a 6,000 foot elevation gain, and the 36 brought me back down to sea level.

On a related note, does anyone living at high elevations have any comments on how that affects performance, including fuel efficiency? Or does the ECU learn to adjust?

First tank was 27.8 (if the dealer truly filled up the tank all the way!). My next two fill-ups have been 31.5 and 30.7. I am about to hit 1,000 miles so I am sure I will start averaging 31-33 (I drive 70 percent city - 30 percent hwy).

I get 230 to 250 miles per tank (11.9 gallon tank); I ride with ac blasting most of the time, and I do alot of in-town traffic driving; I don't rev on it and I'm decent on my gas pedal; I am on 17" wheels with light-weight lowpro tires; the change from 380 miles per tank happened way after the wheels went on; my hubby says to check my plugs and fuel emmissions; my questions are ----- how many mpg am I getting with 240 miles/tank? and ------ What do ya'll think of the plugs and emmissions possibilities?

I live an hour away from dealer so I'd like to take care of this without them unless it's a warrenty thing... with there service dept I'll have to take off a whole day that I would have to sit at their car lot? Yuck, not a good idea of a Saturday to me...

Please help???

I would have to say not very good! The xB has a 11.9 gallon tank, but you’re not using the entire contents. Depending on how close to E you actually get your probably only filling up with 10 gallons, giving you around 24mpg.

Next time you fill up set your trip meter to 0. Then the next time you fill you tank divide the number of miles you have driven by the number of gallons you put in the car, e.g. 300 miles driven divided by 10 gallons = 30 mpg.

most of the peeps that are getting below 30 mpg average on the xB have automatics. They are geared taller thus put a more heavier load on a small engine. Bigger wheels just aggravate the situation. The highest mpg I got was 30.3 average . The worst is 22 mpg on I-15 going to Vegas with the wife & kid as passengers. I average 26 mpg on a 25 minute ,22 mile commute. Of course I drive an automatic,

Obviously 215/45-19 tires are going to consume more energy to turn than anything closer to stock diameter. What was your mileage before you put the 19” on?

I drive an automatic and I still get 38 MPG HWY 32 around town. I really try to keep my car rolling though. I get mad at guys that turn too slowly and make me step on my brake.

The automatic is rated at better mpg than the manual because it turns less rpms per mph. Bigger wheels do not affect mpg if the roling radius is the same. Most people who put on big wheels also put on low profile performance tires that do not change the rolling radius much.
