... I traded in my 2006 xb that i bought (had 1 mile on the ODO) for a brand spanking new 2010 mercedez e350.... the benz is decked out - panoramic sunroof, headlights that turn with the steering wheel, 6 dvd in dash changer, heated seats, navi, and a ride like i've never felt before in my life!

i am still sooooooooooooooooooo sad that i let the box go. it had 36,200 or so miles when i traded her in.. i was not even in the market for a new car but the dealer offered me $8,000 for the box and i could not say no. BMW was giving me $6000 for th e box and i saw several on craigslist for like $4000-$5000... so i think it was a good deal....

so in total, i had the box for 3 years and 10 months and put ~36,000 miles on it. i have taken it out of state so many times, out on long 100 mile trips and did a ton of grocery shopping and i never had a problem with it. i was sooooo close to getting the new xb but i personally have not come to like the shape yet... so i just started looking around at other alternatives. i always said i was going to keep the box until i had 300,000 miles on it... so i broke my promise... but on the bright side, i paid $17k in cash for the box, and the dealer gave me 8k for it. the difference between these two numbers is $9,000 - so that means the box cost me about $2,250 per year (since i had it nearly 4 years) to "rent." i think it came out to be the best deal i've ever had in my life.... got to see so many places, did so much, and all for barely any money at all (in comparison to pricier alternatives.)

anyway, this forum has been great. im still sticking around to keep in touch with other box fans.

LMAO - trust me, if i could, i would. the hummer is leased and there is still about 14 months left until i have to return it. if i return the hummer now, i still have to pay 14 months of the lease payments. i could have the lease transferred but that's too much of a hassle, especially now in credit-crunched USA.

the box i owned outright - i paid $16,800 or so in cash when i picked it up. so it was all mine - no liens, didnt owe anything, etc etc etc. that's why the box went. i went to the benz dealer with the title in hand.

as of now, i am considering getting the gen 2 xb when the hummer goes away... but again, i am not a 100% fan of the new generation look.... but i'd get one for it's utility.

Thanks for the props guys. I have the benz up to about 180 miles now. the ride is incredible. i hope everyone can at least go out and test drive it - after taking like a 30-40 minute ride, you come out of the car feeling soooo relaxed and pampered.... like it's a stress free commute even if you're in traffic like i was in yesterday. took me about half an hour to go 25 miles but i got out of the car and felt like i had done nothing.....

even though i have full coverage, i find myself worrying like crazy when i park this thing............. i always feel like im going to come back to it keyed, or having the tires slashed, or windows broken by a crack junkie that tried to pull the navigation out with his hands...... =( that's the downside and this sucks! i loved the box so much. i owned it outright and never cared really what happened to it - after i had it for 2 years. i parked in times square once and woke up the next morning - some truck had hit the nose of my car and it cracked the nose and bent the driver side fender. i was p155ed like a **** for a month but then after that, i stopped caring. i never even got the damage fixed. i should have put pink band-aids on it or something to show how i truly did not give a fu*k :D

and another thing - since the mercedes is leased, im not planning on doing any mods to it. no rims, no tint, no nothing. im even hesitating to get a $350 car cover for it... LOLOL.... the box, i owned out right, so i could have done anything to it but i was too cheap... hahahaha.... i had a friend paint my hubs black and he also gave me a pair of candied tail lights..... those were the only mods i had on the box, along with my 2 sets of hella horns :D

you'll like the benz, i had a 2005 c230 sport kompressor, they are great cars...you're gonna hate oil changes though, yeah they might only be once a year but a couple hundred dollars sucks.
