cars are NOT and never will be an investment ...especially cheap little ones anyway this whole topic is getting OLD! Speaking of OLD ! BTW I'm tiring of seeing the really young drivers playing "chase" me on the freeway with each other so quit ragging on about old folks when so many young ones are just as bad if not worse!

Go watch a Barrett-Jackson auto auction and tell everyone there that what they're spending their hard earned money on is not an investment.

Badly parked cars should be impounded. Permanently.

It will do wonders for the numbers of bad drivers out there... after all, if they can't park right, how the hell could they drive safely?

I agree that most cars are not investments per se (in that they produce little if any monetary return). But, you said they "are NOT and never will be." There are exceptions, as noted.

That probably was a old person they should revoke there license or get tested more hahah

I had a prerunner S10 with almost $20k in suspension and around 1:00 pm this old guy ran into my parked truck on the side of the road. He said he was tired

A friend of mine was telling me last weekend directly across the street from his work is where old people have to take there dmv driving test in this parking lot. So my buddy and others watch sometimes to laugh and last weekend this guy just started up backed up without looking and someone was driving by needless to say he totalled his car and failed the test. His wife was watching and rushed over to yell at him my friend could hear her yelling at him from where he was standing

the buick is as much as old persons car as Scion is a younger persons car. Probablity makes one believe the buick has mainly old people, not ONLY old people.

Awesome. I would have done the same.

You should have thrown the cart AT the people themselves.

Inconsiderate a$$holes.

Being old is not an excuse and it doesn't exempt you from the consequences of your actions as far as I'm concerned.

$250 fix!!
sorry about you door. Nice to see you handled it with respect for the folks. jumping out of your car and yelling at an old lady. Shame on you. I assume you are perfect and have never had an accident or traffic ticket, never made a mistake in your life? Remember these seniors are the same people who overlooked your mistakes when you were younger. such as. riding your big wheel through their flower gardens, nicks in their car from your tricycle and other stuff.

show some respect, you will be old some day. unless the next time you jump out of the car and yell at some old lady her husband kicks your butt.
F-that. Being elderly doesn't entitle to be an inconsiderate a$$hole. If you can't park without f*cking up other peoples cars, you should have your license revoked. The old man should have taken responsibility for what his stupid old prune of a wife did, just like ANY other responsible adult. Period.

Perhaps the actions, thoughts of action, etc. of some folks in this thread have been intense, but the mere fact that you're a member of scionlife would tell me that you view a Scion as something more than an appliance that gets you from point A to point B.

Door dings, bumper damage, crappy drivers, etc. are all threatening and different people perceive the level of threat and therefore implement their reaction differently. I certainly understand why they'd want to seek revenge, but I surely don't condone it

Revenge is stupid, but just shrugging it off makes you a milquetoast and a pantywaist. Someone deliberately or carelessly damaging your property deserves a response. Maybe even an angry response. Otherwise people never learn to respect others.

I had an elderly lady open her door into my car while I was getting my child out and she didn't even stop walking when I said something to her. I had another rear end me in my 2 day old mustang. I was stopped at a light coming out of a parking lot (Mars grocery store for the elderly) and he bumped me. Wouldn't have done any damage except his license plate was so mangled from run ins with other objects that it damaged my bumper. Of course it is always your word against theirs and they know it. So even the insurance company refused saying I backed into him (his and his wifes claim) I know I will be that old someday but I think after seeing all the people running into stores (I live in florida) and cars running amuck in parking lots that something should be done. Testing yearly at a certain age to make sure they can drive safely (and park too)!!!

Get yourself a tire-thumper (the mini baseball bats that truckers use to check their tires) And, concentrate on the old saying An Eye For An Eye, A Tooth for A Tooth.
then when you get a dent politely GIVE one back! old or young, a dnets a dent!

I hate to admit it, but I've been keeping track of my driving "experiences" last week. Since I drive for a living right now as a Parts Runner there are plenty of mishaps for me to be aware of.

And unfortunately, out of the 4 "problems" I had last week, three of them were with older people who were simply not paying attention.

Most ironically, another incident last week was my first glimpse of a tC on the road. I only saw the rear because she cut me off, and then cut two other people off to make a hard right. Not a very good first impression of the car I'm going to buy and she was just as bad if not worse than some of the old people, cuz' she did it intentionally. Stupid _____, giving a bad name to young people and Scion owners.

i don't think that all old drivers are bad. my grandmother for example is a great driver, while i would never ride with my grandfather. I think the main thing that ticks me off about 'some old people' not all is that they don't respect other peoples property. About a week ago i was at the post office and i park next to a old caddilac. You guys prob know the car i am talking about .

well he starts to back out and has his wheel turned and he hits the side of my 1 week old xB and i tell him to pull back in. this guy doesnt even say sorry but just tries to make excuses for himself. luckily for me he hit the rubber strip on the wheel well and i just bent it back into place. It's all about respect though, no matter how old you are everyone should treat others property with respect.
