Default Internet Browser Trouble

well, i was surfing through the forums here and all of a sudden when i clicked on a link this message showed up:

phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database

the only way i was able to fix it was to delete all of my internet chache and history.

does anyone know what this means?

PHP is a common programming language for internet forums such as this. A database error means there may be some authentication problems at the host end. It usually has nothing to do with the users themselves, so don't let it worry you. If I had to guess, I would say that someone has been trying to manually rebuild an index of profile info for some odd reason and the database is not happy about it.
Finding coding errors manually is a tedious task. I don't envy whoever is searching for the proverbial "needle in a haystack." ...just glad it's not me.

there's an open post about this in the appropriate area, website discussion. the powers that be are looking into it, and we hope to have a resolution soon.
