Default New EPA mileage ratings.....

D'oh!

Click me!

I like how they say it's due to cold weather driving, higher speeds (which I can agree with) and AC use (which has been around for 40 years or more).
I wonder if the quality of gas has anything to do with it.

AC use (which has been around for 40 years or more).
While AC has been around for that long, the problem is the EPA never tested with it, thus resulting in the crazy EPA estimates in hybrids (when the AC is on the motor keeps running the compressor) I actually like the new EPA standards, and find them quite adequate. a well needed change

There are lots of things they've changed - all them look to me to make the new values a lot more realistic. Comparing the new values with the "real world" ones reported by folks using fueleconomy.gov is pretty interesting. (If you're inclined to be geeky about fuel economy.)

It is interesting that the automatic xB now has a higher "combined" fuel economy than the manual.

I like the new figures...they seem to be a lot more accurate. It does only make sense that a person owning a car with A/C might actually use it

I 100% believe that the quality of the gas has something to do with the lower milage. When you put ethonol in the fuel it cuts your gas milage. Ethonol is INFERIOR to gasoline, plain and simple and when you make gas 10% percent (it will be 20% here in MN in five years) you make gas less efficient.
