Original 1st Gen owners
So after doing all the checks I could manage alone, fuses & relay, I finally got to take my YLLWBUS to a friend who owns a shop and low and behold the wires had corroded off from my horns! YAY for easy fixes like these
and thanks for Auto Zones return policy so which left me with no expenses...Cost 0.00, And Thanks everyone for the great advice!
Now on to the upcoming 90k service...new spark plugs, filters, etc. since these have never been changed. Plus getting a new intake since the bracket broke a hole in the current one...Got new rims and tires so excited!!

I was just wondering how many original 1st gen xB owners are still left. What I mean is how many of you bought your xB new and still have and enjoy it? Seem to be alot that have moved or planning to move on. I still have my 2005 BCP xB that I bought new in Apr of 05 and still enjoy the heck out of it. Sometimes I get a kick out of going back to the older posts to read how stoked people were about their xB's. Oh well, life goes on.
I still have my 2004 XB. Drove her off the lot in July 2004 with 23 miles on it. I have 225,000 miles on it and she still runs strong. I just dropped her off to the shop to replace the ORIGINAL clutch!!! I love my box!
Still have mine from 11/2004 (2005). 46,000 miles and has been from coast to coast.
Tires, battery all replaced. Drivers side actuator needs to be replaced. Paint still shines. Will be hard to part with emotionally.

2005 xB:
Bought used with 55k miles on it.
Turned 126k miles yesterday!
Typical Routine Maintenance
OIL
First thing I did when I got the used car was to do an oil and filter change - it really needed that!
Since I didn't know any better, I put in Mobil 1 Synthetic,
- but was not terribly happy with it.
Moved on to Royal Purple, based on a suggestion here.
- Good improvement, but still not perfect.
Finally, came across a review of AMSOIL Synthetic motor oil and got their
"Signature Series" in 5-30W.
- WOW!! - What a difference!!!
Simple Mods
Based on Information gained here:
- Spark Plugs (Iridiums)
- Rear Sway Bar
- Tower brace
- Shocks changed to Monroe
- Alloy wheels (aftermarket came with the car)
- Tires changed back to the larger, Japaneses spec., size (195/60R15).
Repairs:
- Rear Wheel Bearings (@ 125K miles)
- Front Wheel Bearings (very soon)
- Rear Coil Springs (very soon)
- Exhaust (very soon)
- Driver's side Passenger Door Lock actuator (... when I get around to it)

Sadly, the HVAC is starting to make squirrely noises (blower motor on its way out). Not looking forward to replacing that!
I'm on my third one now. Bought a 2006 Thundercloud Silver 5-speed xb new in late '05 and drove it to 7500 miles, traded it for a new 2006.5 Polar White xb in late 2006 because I wanted an auto and the steering wheel radio controls (trade cost me a whole $1500), sold it in 2008 at 7900 miles for what I paid for it new.....spent 5 years regretting it.....then finally found a super clean '04 RS 1.0 5-speed with 69000 miles on it.....and am not parting with it! So I'm kinda an original 1st gen owner!
Since getting the '04 I have done the following:
1. Removed ugly aftermarket wheels and went to stock wheels with new
Scion 6-spoke twist hub caps and new Hankook Optimo 185/65/15 tires.
2. TYC tail lights.
3. Progress rear sway bar.
4. Boomerang arm rest.
5. Billet lower grille to match factory billet upper grille.
6. Injen short-ram intake (can't find the Fujita any more
)
To do list:
1. Tanabe Medalion Touring exhaust system
2. ??????

06 xB,......216,000 miles.
Replaced the brake pads/shoes couple times; plugs once; flushed the coolant once.
Oh yeah,.....last month the belts finally split off (lights were dimming on way to work. Still had half of the belt on there
). OEM belts lasting over 200,000 miles....pretty impressive. OEM battery still there as well.
Only on my third windshield, though.
Durable vehicle. Turning out to be the best $15,000 I ever spent.

still have my 06 SRP with A/T bought in July 2006. 241,000 on it. No mods, no major repairs, just routine maintenance. see my post in 100,000 mile thread. getting ready to change original accessory belts. am dealing with persistent running lean code PO171 right now.
I bought my 2005 xB (Black Cherry) in September of 2004, brand new, with one-tenth of one mile on it. Nine-plus years later, it's still a charmer with (I kid you not) 15,100 trouble-free miles on it. (Never driven in snow, rarely driven in rain, hand-washed only, you get the picture.) We see a lot of healthy, good-looking early toasters on the road in Virginia. Cheers!
Bought our 2004 Black xB in December of 2003. Had a hard time back then finding a black one with an automatic. Only other option that we bought was the floormats. Did install a chrome grille, dual exhaust, and a trailer hitch (for towing the jet ski). It was/is out retirement car (retired Jan of 04). My wife says it is her car now. I've wanted to trade it in on a new xB (been trying since 200
but it's a no go. Has a little over 90k miles on it. We both still love driving it.

Bought mine new (TCM) off the lot on 1/21/05 with 4 miles on the odo. Today, it has almost 94,000 miles on it.
So far, replaced water pump at 37,000 miles (done for free by my dealer since I am a loyal customer), Rear hatch handle (have not sent in the paperwork for the re-imbursement yet), New front pads and turned the rotors, greased the front windows as they were getting slow going up. The rest?...maintenance by the book. Still on just the second set of tires; Michelin Harmony's. Will replace with the new Michelin Defender when ready. The Michelin's are great in snow/ice and they ride great.
I did have a Webasto Glass Moonroof put in a few years ago and it has been really great. I was nervous about cutting up my baby, but it worked out nicely.
She has been really good to me from the Beach Trips, to the Mountains and everywhere else in between including two trips from NC to Orlando.
Waiting for Scion to get off their butt and bring us the "real" xB they sell in Japan as the current Toyota bB. I never grew to like the second generation xB/'08-'13 sold here in the U.S. (Called the Corolla Runion in Japan). But if Scion brought over the "true" bB in Japan and/or the new '15 Toyota "Aygo" as the new xA or xA2?? (especially with that huge canvas sunroof)....I would buy either or both to add to the fleet, but "no" plans to sell my '05 Toaster'. She is a true "keeper"...something that is so rare in the U.S. now.
You don't sell/trade-in what is considered a great car by many including automotive websites who say it is a great used car to buy.
