Default Power output of the Headunit.

Hello ya'll, I am new to the car audio stuff so I have a few questions when it some to adding a small sub to my stock XA system. First off what is the power ouput of the stock head unit, and could it be anough to power a 100watt sub. I am not trying to get a loud thump, just a little bit more of bass, like I get on my home theatres sub when I listen to music on it. I will apprecite any feedback and/or tips. Thank ya!

If that is all you are looking to get from it just get the tube from the dealer, or something like.

The stock Pioneer HU only has enough power to run the door speakers which isn't much to begin with. If your looking at getting only a little bit of bump out of your stereo like Crucial Three said, look into the factory Bazooka tube. It has a built in amplifier. If you want something slightly more complex you can connect a high level converter to the stock HU and buy your own sub/amp combo. While this would be more expensive you would get more control over the quality of the bass and have better control over volume levels as well.

if you want to get a 3rd party sub, you are going to need to invest in a MONO amp to power it... ur stock HU aint going to be able to push any high output LFEs (BASS). I agree with the other posters... either invest in outputing the audio to another amp and build your system... or get that bazooka

I hate to burst anyone's bubble but.... That Pioneer head unit is 7 maybe 11 watts RMS tops. I know that someone will want to argue about that but it's true. It works well with the dooor speakers. Think about it this way. If the radios that are out there really are what they say EG 60 x 4 or 70 x 4 how do they do it? If you look at the inside of a real 60 X 4 or 70 X 4. amp, there is not a lot of extra space. You certainly could not fit a CD player, AM FM tuner. I guess what I am saying is the power rating that we get on the radios that we see are a little exaggerated.

If you are on a budget there are a lot of good product out there good sounding woofers and amps. If you want to try a great amp and woofer for a reasonable price look for Street Edge. It will really impress and surprise you. If cost is no object the wolrd is wide open. Good luck and enjoy whatever you buy

No jack on the back. The XM connection is may not be the same as other units. There is no current stanndard.

like was said previously, the radio only puts out a few watts RMS. RMS is the key figure to look for. the wattage on the front of the radio is only listed as PEAK power, thats not what you want to go by when purchasing an amp or radio. you want to find the RMS or CONTINUOUS power it will supply and go from there.-good luck. also try roadmaster amps. i know, i know it may sound funny, but read the specs on them, they are pretty impressive for a cheapo amp.

RMS is also bogus it is just a guide line. The Feds do not regulate the car audio industry at this time. In 2006 the will be volentary standard for manufactures to adhere to. So at this time one could find an amp that said 250 X 2 = 500 and it can be a total lie. Now some manufactures have aready been using this standard for years and will even rate their amp conservatively. This is done in an effort to make sure that the customer get every bit they pay for.
