Default Q: pulling the parking brake first ?

seems to me that as long as you don't release the foot brake first, you can set the trasmission to 'park' before setting the parking brake.

the weight of the car will be resting on the trasmission only if you set the trasmission to 'park' first, then let go of the foot break before you set the parking brake.

I have an auto and don't care to get involved, but can everyone start to use the word BRAKE when referring to the thing that slows or stops the car, and BREAK when referring to something that fails or a vacation.

Very common repair for women and lazy guys, who like KOJAK, just slap it in park and let the weight of the car rock back and forth on that pin.
Geesh xBHAWK - need a teddy bear today? You seem... hmm, I dunno... a bit angry. Just had to say, for the record, I'm a woman and actually set my parking brake... imagine that... I've owned 4 cars, 2 automatics and 2 manuals, and have never ruined a transmission.
WOW! You are MY KIND of WOMAN! Tell me that you use your directional signal as required by law, and I’ll want to marry you sight unseen. Yes that is exactly what I need, you in a bare teddy. I’m dyslexic but I’m sure you don’t mind that, right?

Not angry, just vigilant like Judge Judy. I saw a Judge Judy episode where a defendant was sure that she was not at fault because her car was parked when a car bumped it. It broke free rolled down a hill into two other parked cars. The defendant got the analogy of a dead child instead of some damaged cars, none of witch would have happened if the parking brake was engaged. It was a beautiful thing, a $5000 dollar fine and a 15 minute lecture!

is there a way to tighten your parking brake? my driveway isnt on that much of an incline but my car still rolls back unless i pull the ebrake hard, up to the point when i can't pull back any further. usually in my friends cars they can pull the the brake 3-4 clicks and it will hold. on my tc i have to pull it back about 6 clicks and it feels like something is about to snap. i hope there is some way to make it tighter

Heh... as a matter of fact, I do use my turn signals. But sorry to disappoint you; I've been happily married for two years, and my hubby's the only one who'll see me in a teddy anytime soon.

Rabberflatch, I had my xB's drum brakes re-adjusted at the first oil change.
Six months later, the parking brake is weak again! So is the braking power...
