While removing the washer I found the bulb in the center brake light was burnt out. I replaced what looked like a factory bulb with an LED.

@Chunjee, Hi, In my city many car owners have two color car body. It is the new fashion.

Agreed. I'm on my second 1st gen xB and couldn't live without the wiper here.

Finally installed this dead pedal cover; been sitting in my garage since about the time of vehicle purchase:

Also added a cellphone magnet and charging cable to the dash. It may look a little odd with nothing attached; but maybe it'll look cooler when I have some information displaying

Cellphone charge and magnet

___

This used up the last 12 socket I added; so hopefully nothing else electronic will be added for a while.

My foot is very big (US 13.5) and I wear hiking boots, so I can't really fit on this dead pedal comfortably it seems.

If I can find someone to 3D print this I am planning to add it someday. I'm not familiar enough with 3D printing to know if getting the bevel and texture to match the original styling is realistic. It would also take more design time and tools.

I wear Columbia outerwear waterproof type hiking shoes to work in and don't have issue with my dead pedal cover luckily. I love the look it added in addition to the OBX pedal covers that were on it when I got it. I found this flat pad thing phone holder that just grips the dash without any adhesive. Seems to work very good. Have not had phone leave it at any point and have tested it. I connect to my elm Bluetooth OBDII and run torque app on my Android phone to display all kinds of info either digitally or in gauge form. Also good place for it to be so phone can be used as GPS if needed. Have Bluetooth adapter to answer calls thru OEM HU over speakers or play music from phone. I just would have to drape charge cable over the dash if it needed charging tho. I do like whatcha did with yours too. I tried a Ram Mount XGrip up above RR view mirror but didn't really dig it way up there.

@Chunjee Please let me know how to fix the space between front bumper and the top gap? To use clear silicone, sheetrock screws, or it is something elese? Temporarily I use plumber metal pipe band support (cut to 3 inch long) and dry wall screws (they are like this for more than 5 years). I may need to replace soon. They got rust.
The grill overlay can cause for the engine to work at much higher temperature? So this is good for the arctic cold winter time?

Idle Air / Antifreeze / Rotating Magnet control valve. This is mounted on the front engine. Here is the sensor. Must feel the heat/humidity/barometric pressure, from the car and the surrounded environmental area.

What this came with doesn't have air holes. I believe that is true of the factory grill as well. The two lower "honeycomb" inserts are what feed air over the radiator.

As for attaching the grill. The factory design of the classic xB attaches to notches on the headlights. Not the most robust design imo. Since most of mine are broken off; this is primarily attached with zip ties. The acrylic overlay attaches to the existing grill with 3M tape.
99% of the aftermarket grills I looked at attach to the factory grill that way, so I don't know the perfect solution for a missing grill and/or broken headlight tabs.

Traded this xB to my parents for a minivan. The van is worth 6kish according to carfax so I got a good deal imo.

I was hoping to buy it back from them someday because I do miss it sometimes and the engine runs super smooth; but got word yesterday that they have sold the BadBox to someone for $2,500

I have no doubt it can continue to live a good long life but might not be with me. Godspeed little xB 👍

Hi Chunjee, if you need a cheap car I have a solution for you. The students from my University have low or no income. They fix cars. So, those are purchased cars from auction like Copart. I ask about how to get a good deal? The trick is to bit for a car where the bitting number is low from 0% to 25% of the value of the car. Do not look for a clean title.
Toyota Scion xB first generation have a very good engine. My car engine now pass 201K Miles, it is quiet, and do not burn oil.
Lately Toyota is trying to survive in the new car market. It is Tesla the new car model standard manufacturer for all future car industry?

I think I bought five Scion's from the crashy crashy auction so far. My sister loves her salvage 2nd gen xB and I got an xD recently. I was high bidder on a tC but they wanted a crazy amount.

The issue I have with salvage Scions is they don't have a high MSRP to start with (15k seems pretty average)
So while a $1000 bid can win them; The same bid or $500 more can get a Lexus or Corolla with better suspension, interior, etc.

I saw the Bad Box out in the wild. My van which always had a small knock has gotten worse so while its taken apart I am borrowing a similar 2006 xB. Makes me miss mine but the suspension is still gross.

The soundproofing is almost non-existent; I can often not hear the radio because the the engine noise is so loud in the cabin. Thats both a good and a bad thing. I like the sound when I'm having fun but would be nice to turn it off sometimes.

So good upgrade ideas would be suspension and add soundproofing.
