Stock Vs. Not so Stock
Here's whats in your motor folks. To the left is a Crower billet rod with Arias piston attached and to the right is the stock pencile rod that snaps like a pretzel.

Where did you find a stock piston that clean? I had to sand blast mine to get it halfway decent after pulling it (the piston won't be used again). Sorry I didn't have the coated Wiseco's pictured. Any reason you didn't do the skirts?


Thats why this is the XB lounge. Total different motor.
Vettereddie, look at the side view pic of the two rods you posted. notice anything? your stock rod has a oil hole to push oil on to the bearing. your crower one does not. You have 1st. gen crower rods so keep in mind you will need to notch your block, no big deal. I have the same ones but i set them back up in the CNC and put the oil quench hole in mine.
As far as not coating the skirt on the piston, Nick Arias said was not needed, and would get better response without it. ( better seal )

I think people like the first gen XB the way it is. The second gen Xb although it has a bigger motor, Not really an Xb not even made in Japan.
The first gen Xb is going to be a cult classic just like the early honda civic.
Just like those cars it will gain notority in time.
No matter what your choice, the idea is to make it your own. I can build a 1Nz just as powerful as a 2Az.

yeah, i know, i'm not talking $h!t about the first gen's, it was just a little joke to cover up my stupid post.
as for the xb being a future classic, it will be in terms of styling, not really performance since it takes alot of time, sweat and money to get it to make those impressive numbers you did.
the tC will also be a future classic, yeah, there are lots and lots of them now, but they're a stylish, and can also put down some power fairly easily.

get yourself together and say it right.... there is no xb in japan.
its called bB... and "there" IS second gen xb in japan called corolla rumion
and i dont even own any xb or bB so if you have one u should know better. PEACE!
Thats the engine out of IvanBb's XB. He was getting on it after leaving a Toll booth and it let go. His XB was turbocharged. I got the engine from him for spare parts ( needed a head and intake ) and took it apart to see what happened. Looks like the rod broke just below the wrist pin and while the engine was still reving, and without a piston attached, that free rod spinning around ate right through the alum. case on both sides. Looked like the engine was suffering from lots of overheating damage before this happened. The head didn't look to bad, except for carbon build-up on the valves, so the piston must have got sucked out of the hole as soon as the rod let go. When I took the engine apart, the left over oil smelled terrible and must have had some horrible heat damage.

Lots of good parts were take off and now with the hydro locked engine I got from Justin a while back, I had enough parts to build a dummy engine to fool with. My 14 year old son has taken it apart and put it back together 3-4 times now and has a good knowledge of how an engine works and what makes it go.
I should take some pictures of the 2 pistons and rods that were hydro locked in the other engine. Thats amazing how the rods would bend like that!

I;m sure that made for a crappy evening. I know it did for me when broke the first motor.
I'll take some pics of the rods I broke. I spun 2 pistons 90 deg. in the block, snaped 2 rods in half and bent the other 2 so bad that they should of broke. However nothing came through the block and this was without sleeves.
One thing is for sure if your gonna run more than 6 pounds of boost. You better upgrade the internals.
