Thinking of the xB, questions.
Hi there, I test drove an xB on Sunday and I absolutely fell in love with it. My girlfriend has a tC and we love it as well. My only concern with the xB is with there not being a 2007 model, and the 2008 being a 'redesign' (according to the toyota dealer). Will a 2006 xB be worth anything in 2010?
Also, does anyone have a first-hand comparison between the xB and the honda element? they are both sexy in my eye and I really cant choose one I like better.
Thanks, and great forum. been lurking forever.

xB and Element are 2 different vehicles with different purposes. You have to decide what you want it for. Drive both and decide what better suits your needs.
here you go a head to head test ...

I was in the same position as you and asked a couple of questions here, this is a great place, populated by some very helpfull xB Owners....
First of all, the xB is a few thousand $$ less than the Element, around $6,000 I think, that's a LOT of Gas and to look at it another way, sit down with a Calculator and work out how many hours you'd have to work to make $6000 NET!!
If you're going to use the xB for hauling stuff, the rear seats fold flat in 3 seconds, the Element's rear seats are rotated outboard and hung from Hangers, they still take up space....
The best thing to do is test drive both, decide which one you could live with and decide whether the Element is worth the extra coin....
Sure, it's inevitable that the xB will get a make-over, Cars are like Computers, if you wait for the latest you'll never buy one...the xB really holds it's value, there hasn't been a problem with depreciation and I don't think there ever will be, even if the present model becomes the OLD Model, there will always be a good market for used Toasters as People find out that they're such a great practical liddle Box and fantastic for commuting etc...
Good luck and let us know what you decide to do...
By the way, go to kbb.com and compare the Element and Toaster side by side...
I drove both ... didn't like the "lowrider" seats in the Element.. felt like a kitten looking out of a milk pail..to much clutter blocking my view out the sides and back.....
then drove that chev. "wanna be a PT Loser"....durn glovebox door fell off...and no room at all... then drove the toaster..what a diff.
bought it....wife drove it 3 times.....now we have 2!

I haven't figured out what they mean when they say that there won't be a 2007 model- no xB's for a whole year, early release of the 2008, or just keep selling the current model thru '07?
I can't believe they'd just discontinue a good seller...
Which xB's apparently are, given the resale on them...
I think they'll hold their value rather well, regardless of what's new. It's a Toyota product, after all, and a uniquely practical one at that...
You just need to be aware of the limitations. It's not a fast car, particularly not with automatic transmission. There are some ergo issues with taller drivers, and road noise can be annoying with the car in stock form... the audio system is really only so-so, and the pickup-style windshield is susceptible to rocks...
No matter what, you want an aftermarket rear sway bar- TRD, Progress, or Whiteline. The improvement in handling is remarkable... and they're easy to install.
