i always shift at 4000 rpms for daily driving. if im feeling spirited i shift at 6000

i cruise at gears that leave me at around 2800-3200

that way when i need to get going its right there!

btw, i get 35 mpg in the city (this is the best its been so far. last 5-6 tanks have been averaging 35)

If Im not in a hurry or trying to get into fast traffic I shift between 2.7 and 3, gently moving up. If I need some oomph or just forget and think Im on my morotcycle I get up to maybe 5.5, but Im trying to get decent mileage. (And they do drive fast here in Housotn, 80 is common on the freeway)

here's how it works...get in, tell myself i'm gonna drive sensibly, easy on the gas, all that. then, there's one shift that's kinda high, i think, "hmmm. that felt good." next thing i know, i'm driving like a maniac.

I usually shift it into D around the time I want to go somewhere. On occaision I shift at R but then it's usually back into that there D range with the O around it. The shift 'em points is solid too, I can't move the darn thing out of P until I put the brake in just a bit.

For me it depends. Often right around 8,000, but I don't have a Scion yet. Power will be one thing I'll be missing when I order an xB. (and the clutchless transmission)
