what are the tail lights I keep seeing whenever I look at pics of the rear bumper applique?

they look too round to be the altezza ones I see everywhere on ebay. And they definately aren't the scion fx ones...

yes but if you look carefully, they aren't the same lights.. for one thing the lights in the rear bumper applique picture are round and the ones on ebay are oval.

I remember someone posting way back when about those being a generation one TYC tail that never went into production or something like that. The closest thing out there now is the ScionFX ones I think.

Those would be the TYC Altezza's.

Here's a picture of my ride with them on. I have since bought new ones.

dang i think I would've liked them... with a black housing though like the one in the pic... not a big fan of chrome

 

Get a set, take 'em apart, and paint the housing.

ooo but i do like the chromed out rear wiper... just noticed that ... looks much better that that plastic stick.

Actually you know what would be hot... CF wiper arm.. or at least an overlay... any make them?

 

The are first gen TYC's, I have a pic somewhere of them at SEMA in '03. According to my TYC rep, they discontinued them when they signed the deal with Toyota to supply the current ones to the dealers.

You may want to try some vendors in JP or HK. TYC has a large line of lights not available here in the states due to factory contracts.

weird the contract forbids them from making/selling a different style lights... ? I wonder if that means someone else can make knock-offs...

 

You can still find a set of the old TYCs, you just have to do a little looking.

Noobs take note of the LED bar molded into Oratoro's spoiler.

 

Good eye on the molded LED bar. Most people don't notice it until it shines in their face. It's really bright too!

 

I remember a couple months back when I saw that pic I thought the light car was standard on cars with oem spoilers installed... then I went to the dealer and saw it was not so... I was so confused...

 

You could always get the chrome JDMs like mine and Ontarios and put dark tinted coverlays over them rather than disassembing them.

 

did they used to make em in black? the pics are black...
