I promise you that ignorant in-bred has replaced many more parts in his vehicle than we Toyota owners ever will. Sorry for the rant, but I live in Wisconsin and deal with this on a regular basis.

To be completely fair, a good bit of Toyotas are produced in th US. Lots of "American cars" have lots of parts made outside of the US. Just because the company is based in a one country doesn't mean all their parts are produced there.

Scions, however, are made 100% in Japan.

I bought my xb because of the fact it's built in Japan. I don't want a hillbilly building my car, even if it is a Toyota. Of course American car makers use foreign parts. The only problem is those parts go into crappy american designs built by drooling nascar obsessed hicks.

Lets not stereotype Nascar fans as hicks. I am a Nascar fan that loves my Xb. Toyota is going to be a major player in Nascar next year as well (I won't be surprised if the Camry does really well - the Tundra is already winning the majority of the truck races). Some people still think you should only by from American manufacturers - they don't realize many foreign automakers build their cars in the US (my other car is a Sequoia - which is built in Indiana!). What people need to realize is the unions at Ford and GM have ruined those companies (they can't compete because of the high costs associated with the union contracts).

She was driving a early '90s Buick. It was actually kind of funny. The last time this happened to me was in the early 80s when I had a 1980 Corolla.

I see what you're getting at but there's no sympathy left in me for ignorant, uneducated cletii that put down people because they don't drive a ford f150. Maybe the nascar comment was a bit heavy but you don't see many Dale Jr. decals on the backs of BMWs now do you?

First I take a look at what they are driving, sometimes I just start laughing and point at their car. Sometimes people are just stressed about something totally unrelated to you or your car, and lash out at anything.

Definitely don't see many Dale Jr. decals on BMW's - but NASCAR is changing (you can see that with Toyota in the mix). I have been thinking about putting a 48 (Jimmie Johnson) and a 24 (Jeff Gordon) decal on my box. The Dale Jr. fans won't like that either (they don't like drivers that come from outside the south!)!

I've been reading this while thinking "I'm glad I don't get comments like that". Then last night I almost got into a fight because of my unamerican piece of crap. I was in line in the drive thru waiting. Doing nothing to draw any attention to my box. Then the jerk off behind me starts yelling something. I couldn't understand him, so I just looked back in my side mirror. So he yells something again and gives me the finger. I was like what the hell! So he calls me a pu$$y and keeps yelling buy american. So I told him to F'off. He procedes to yell and starts spit'n. It was a long wait in line, beacuse it was like 1 am, so we were able to have a nice friendly discussion about our disagreement. He keeps telling me to pull over or get out so he can kick my a$$. I just laugh at him and call him a fat f'n peice of.....and so on. I finally get my stuff and just leave. I get a red light right next to the place, so the SOB catches up to me. Again telling me that I should buy american and then starts spit'n again. Now I'm just inches from beating his a$$, but I'm right next to the mcdonalds I was at. They could hear what was going on and plus they have camras. I really didn't want to get cops involved over something as stupid as this, plus get arrested. So, I just told him to Fck off and left. Its a hit in the ego, but its better than jail.

Not only is it better than jail, it's better than a knife in the gut or a gunshot wound. Granted, i'm usually armed in some way but only for defense and only when nothing else will get me out of the situation. You can't deal with ignorant rednecks or hillbillies with reason. They're rabid animals and should only be treated with contempt and avoided at all costs.

I don't usually get negativity, like the drive-thru incident TCscotty had. I have had a few snickers and such at stoplights, but I find it funny how they have one heck of a time keeping up with my "ugly piece of crap" when the light turns green.

this happened a week ago on saturday night

ast night coming home from the bar after last call we stopped at a 7-11 near our house in centreville. It's like 2AM at this point and after a long night we are ready to go home and crash. As we are in the car, getting ready to reverse out of our spot, this tool walks out of the store with a couple of his friends, spots the car and starts waving his arms around in the air and singing. He at this point looks like someone that might know us or have recognized us.. so I roll down my window on the passenger side. This guy walks up to my window while singing somewhat a version of "Hail to the Redskins" and starts slapping his hands on the roof of the car. I ____ you not he goes (in tune with the song)
"hail to the redskins! hail victory
I love Joe Gibbs!
I hate SCIONS!"

I give him a and just say 'ooookayyyy good night' as we pull away. Can't really get too ____ed at him cause i like the skins and joe gibbs, sure. My fiancee and I just kind of sat in the car for a second once we reached the house trying to process what had just happened I guess the dude was just bombed and felt the need to convey his love for the Redskins and his hate of Scions

people never did that when I drove my beat-up 97 pathfinder. daaaaaang
