You sir work with ignorant hicks. Toyota and many foreign car makers have plants all over the states that employ Americans. Ask them about all the American companies that sold America out from under us... about all the politicians that facilitate outsourcing, etc.

Toyota ALONE offers 5 cars and 2 pickups under $20k that are very reliable and great values, plus they offer 2 SUVs that are just over $20k (Rav4 and FJ), which are again... great values. If you count Scion, that's another 3 outstanding vehicles at a GREAT price.

So the next time someone gives you grief about your box, just ignore them. Why? Because they make no sense... Toyota makes quality products. It's not worth getting in a fight over, much less getting upset over... especially if the jack@** is in a Dodge Colt.

I've had my xB for a week and I am absolutely thrilled with it. No one can say anything to make me loose sleep about it. My other car is an '05 Crown Victoria... my second crown vic, because they really are good cars. So go American quality!, right? Actually, it was fully assembled in Canada. They're discontinuing crown vics, they don't make Cherokees anymore, so when next i need a spacious ride, hopefully Scion will have one by then.

I feel bad for American car companies, but they really did it to themselves. I hear Dodge is changing for the better. I wish them well and will wave to them from my xB when I pass gas stations.

EDIT: Sincerely,
Someone who's been burned by the Buy American cars mentality, and won't take it anymore.

I went to college and all that but I work a blue collar job for the most part... manufacturing circuit boards so manufacturing in the USA still goes on but we do outsource to save money when possible. We do a lot of military electronics so we can't outsource those for security reasons.

It is ignorance and it's futile trying to hold on to the old ways in a new economy. You have to adapt and move on. A lot of this outsourcing has bit a lot of companies in the ___ as they find out it ends up costing more to do certain things outside the states then they initially thought. But anyway, I can just see the people you work with... all overweight, typical hillbilly american folks foaming at the mouth about all the "damn foreigners". Sad really.

Not very many negative comments here yet. I had one quirky lady say, "I bet that thing drives like a grocery cart!" ha ha ha

Most people start by saying they don't like it, but after riding in it I continually hear things like, "Sweeeet ride!"

People think it elevates them by stepping on someone else...

My favorite was these 3 punks in a G35 coupe. We were in traffic and they said "Get that slow-___ thing off the road" and kept yelling the same stupid remarks. I said "You guys can't lose me and it's not the car. You're driving must suck". They made some shoebox remarks and then I said "You ain't foolin' anyone, everyone knows that's your mommy's car". The 2 passengers went "OOOOOHH!" and the driver lost his stupid grin... BULLSEYE! I just laughed and laughed...

Never let the negative comments get you down. As someone posted before, people fear and mock what they cannot comprehend.
It surprises me how many people have stupid remarks to make when they are around their peers, yet the same people are the first to show interest in the car when no one else is looking. I have had several coworkers crack a few jokes when in a group, but alone, they all were thoroughly impressed with my xB. One has since purchased one for his wife, and another is debating doing the same.

I hear it all the time. People telling me my car is a piece but not being able to explain why.

They are upset cause you we drive cars that are unusual, they drive cars that you see every day and well, are boring, our cars are awsome you can do anything with them. Crap, my xB had a brush guard, my dad was leaving a gas station, and heard a guy say:

OH, look theres one of those ugly cars, and some one made it uglyier, dad replied, thanks ill be sure to tell my son that, he ownes the car, i was in basic trianing at that time, the guy turned bright red, his wife and daughter laughed at him, dad 1, other guy 0, oh ya!!!

The world just hasnt realized, we drive the best cars out there, period dot.

I had these middle eastern guys come in yesterday asking about Scion, so I was showing them the different ones, I asked if he wanted to test drive an xB and he looks at it and go no its ugly. So we drive the tC and come back and he is like my head hits the roof (6'3") so I was like ok you want head room, check out the xB. He gets in it and was like this thing is awesome, theres a ton of room, and was like I will be back tomorrow to test drive that.

Never judge a box by its exterior.
