people are not very open to new things. When I first saw them I was like is that a box but now, I love my box!

WOW!!! They are chaniging for the better? I hope so. Before I brought my Scion Xb I had a 1996 Neon sport with 150,000 miles on it. Everytime I would take it to the dealer to get serviced, the Service Representatives would look at me as if I were crazy. I guess they were debating who was going to help me. Now my car was clean and kept up, but you know when you have high miles, gaskets start to leak, tranny issues, and such. So, I was like cool I know that the car needs work and I am willing to pay to keep it up. Well the service for the was sooooo crappy from the Service Representatives. The Service Representatives would nonchalantly tell me what was wrong with my car and give me some crazy day and time of when my car would be ready. They would also tell me "Oh you have to bring your car back when that particular tech comes into work." My question to the Service Representatives was "So this tech is the only tech that works here that knows how to do the type of work that I need done?" There answer was; yes you guessed it... "Yes." Then they had the nerve to offer that I should buy a new car. "NO!!" "I like the car that I am driving!! All I want you to is fix my ride, not sell me a car. If I wanted a new car I would have pulled into the new car sales lot and I would be talking to a car sales man!!" WHAT THE @#$#!!! From that day on I vowed to trade my car in buy a car from a foreign car company because of better service toward their cars and the customers that owned their cars regardless of the year of the car. I have taken my Scion in for the service like oil changes and 30 60 90,000 service and I have had no problems. I love the service and the Service Representatives are friendly and knowledgeable. No B.S. I like that.
The sad thing is I enjoyed driving my 1996 Neon. It was a good car. The Civic's hated it!! LOL!!! Even to this day I get teary eyed when I see a Neon. It's sad to see such a good car go to waste in a company that has no love for it's cars only for the money that that car can generate. Once no more money comes in ... BAM! it gets kicked to the curb. No service, no nothing.
Now I will say this...American car companies come up with some of the hypest cars and car engineering, but it's like they do not know what to do with their cars. It's like they only have a short term vision of only 3 years for their cars and that's it. It's the "let's milk it for all that we can and then scrape it" mentalitly I feel sorry for those buyers of the Magnum , Charger, and the 300 series (These are excellent cars.) Once Chrysler/Dodge has stopped getting the big bucks from those cars, those owners will experience the same thing that I did. I hope not , but I seriously think that they will.

My last post was off of topic but I had to let it out. I get those looks and snickers all of the time. I get the people jumping in front of me in traffic and then looking in their rearview and side mirror to look at me or hitting their brakes hard once they get in front of me. I get the people who pull all they way up on you in traffic. I just don't pay them any mind, because if you really look at these people , you will see that they are unhappy about something. They have no love for respect for themselves, so how can they expect to have love and respect for anyone or anything else. I say let them make their comments, laugh , and throw the funky looks all they want, I still will feel like I am on top of the world in my little box of a car.

People randomly pull in front of you and hit the brakes because you drive something different? With those kind of people on the roads, is there any wonder as to the origin of Road Rage? Most of these types of people just need a good @$$-kicking.
As for the "Tailgater Syndrome," the good ol' Supersoaker mod will fix that! I use it almost daily! The looks on people's faces when they realize the car in front of them just ____ed on their hood and windshield are fantastic!

supersoaker mod

brilliant.

I know Scions have a bit of a stigma that goes along w/ em... people see something different and don't like it/hate on it. My friend's roommate in a college town near Va Tech drives an older BMW M3 and asks me why I'd buy a car "like that". Referring to the xB...

For one... repair costs on a freakin Scion are gonna be a FRACTION of the cost on a BMW. Not to mention it's a new car as opposed to a used sports car that's been ragged on by who-knows how many people.

everyone i work with, and all of my friends, and even random people have all had nothing but good things to say about my car. i havent ran into a single person that didnt like it.. ive even had random old men say how much they like it.

the only crap i get is from this one guy i know.. but he just always asks why i waste my money on modding. he always says how stupid i am for wasting money on it lol.. but at the same time he loves how the grille looks and the custom blue bulbs look and also loves how my exhaust sounds... i dunno lol i just tell him its not wasting money.. its spending the money i earn on things i really enjoy. or i just say " its better than spending all my extra money on weed like you" haha

I'm glad I bought my xB right as gas prices started to shoot up this year. Now, the worst I hear from anyone is that they think my car is really weird. Then, they ask how much room there is (which is always met with surprise), and about gas mileage (37mpg is nothing to sneeze at).

When gas was relatively cheap, anything efficient seemed like a silly purchase.

Of course, the American attitude towards small cars has always been that of a penalty box-- you drive it because you have to, not because you want to.

Let's face it, there are those of us who actually like sensible transportation (and around here, the bonus of endless customization helps, too).

I think the only person who's actually made fun of my xB isn't all that serious, as he drives a Suzuki Aerio, and his brother has an xB2. Otherwise, in my hickhole town, I get a lot of stares, and the aforementioned questions, but not really any hostility. I think I aggravate people by driving the speed limit and not accellerating like I'm at a drag strip, but that's not because of what I drive.

Now that I think of it, I once had a drunk guy at a restaurant ask if my car is "one of them battery cars," to which I replied, "No," then started the engine. It's pretty clear what's powering my box, thanks to the TRD Fartcan-- Bees.

As an aside, I've noticed that little kids LOVE the xB. It's really funny. Like, in traffic, or in parking lots, kids will point and exclaim to their parents (who occaisionally will remark that their kid loves my car). It's good for a laugh. A friend's son associates my girlfriend and I with my car, so he gets really excited whenever he sees an xB, because he thinks it's us.

@Richmond2000-- Malcom Bricklin, aside from introducing Subaru to North America, is basically a failure. Besides, Ladas were Soviet Union-built Fiat-knockoffs with a worldwide reputation for being lousy. Also, being insulted for driving an H2 isn't a surprise, as Canada has always had a more sensible attitude towards vehicles than the US.

Haha... I had an Aerio. If it's an AWD model before '06, then you can make fun of him to no end. There's a few problems on those AWD models that are downright dangerous. If it's a FWD model, it's every bit as good as our boxes in almost every regard, except it gives a few mpg's in return for better road manners.

Not sure who slams them but I doubt original xb owners consider the xb2 a real "xb". Sorry to say but c'est la vie.

I get ____ like this in my current car. 1, because it's a Cavalier and 2 because it's yellow. They ragged on my last car too because it was an Avenger. Just don't pay any attention to the idiots on the road. They're the ones with the problems.

The last time I got crap was a couple of months ago. after leaving the bar I was cutting through the Chuck E. Cheese parking lot at about 12:30am & this fat lady and two kids were TRYING to go inside. One of the two kids looked at my car and said "wow his car looks cool" and then the fat lady says: " I hate those ugly things." My response to her was: "Hey I'm not the one taking my kids to Chuck E Cheese after midnight." She then gave me a sneer & tried going inside Chuck E. Cheese.....which was closed.
