well you really dont need them for your high beams unless you do alot of driving with them and just find out the bulb size and and then you would have to run 4 ballast so you would have to buy 2 kits i would just go with one then upgrade

Because of glare issues and something called "it's not made for HID's".
That will result in impedement of visibility. Read up on the highway code for colored lights: www.nhtsa.com

As far as HID's for high beams, HID's take a few seconds to "fully engage into their normal operational mode". That means it takes some time for them to work at its capacity. But flashing the high beams as some other people do when they let people pass or whatever, the ballasts from the HID setup will not engage into their normal operational mode(they take a few secs to warm up), so the lifespan of your HID's will decrease upon every flickering.

In short, projectors not meant for HID don't have the proper cutoff nor are they concerned with glare spots, etc.
Aftermarket HID kits are sold as " or off-road use only" or they should be if not stated on them.

This is from a 2007 tC installation personally think the cutoff looks pretty good. The glare spots on top seem to be there from the beginning, it's not a product of the HID system on it.

Not saying the HID produce the glare spot, but they amplify them. A proper HOD projector will have a clean cutoff, or should.

Clifford
I completely agree with this forum sponsor. With my e36 M3, I was NOT comfortable at all throwing an HID kit on my upgraded European projector headlights because the European uptick did blind and glare people. I ended up doing a TSX retrofit and was finally happy with an acceptable light output on my bimmer. In regards to my new XB, judging from output pics posted here, I was very comfortable adding an HID kit. It is safe for me and safe for the community drivers I share the road with.

I am sure I could of bought a cheaper HID kit somewhere else, but I prefer to pay very small premium to a forum sponsor that will honor their warranty. And, if you think my lips are glued to Cliffud's a$$, then just don't tell my lady about it...

Hey what's up Uberspeed? Man, I didn't mean to disagree with you at all, but I guess my response did seem a little ambiguous with your post right above mine. Anyways, you're either a drop out student or never work just like me because we always run into each on these boards... lol. Anyways, what do you think about HIDs in the stock fogs? Unless I'm hallucinating from last night, I could of sworn I turned on my stock fogs on yesterday and said to myself, "Self, you should add some 3000K in there." The fogs cutoff looks 2 ft lower than the low beams, so I think it should be okay. What do you think Uber?

D- I kinda like the matching fogs myself but the 3k looks hot too. If you do end up ordering, give me a heads up so I can make sure I include some ballast extensions to ensure the wires reach down near the fogs.

Thanks!

BTW - thanks Uber for the support.

D my bad, I meant "not at all" to your lips glued to his a$$ lol
My reply was ambiguous, sorry!

From what I gather, I think we both have read up on lighting and HID and even done a few HID retrofits it seems (only 1 to my credit though) so it's not like we're blindly supporting Cliff. I had mentioned it elsewhere, yes it's possible to source the kits for a tad cheaper but I feel great about supporting someone who supports us.
Thanks Cliff!

On the fogs (I learned my lesson lol) I'd say go for it! Fogs are low enough that I highly doubt they're going to be a hazard to oncoming drivers. Do you have a pic of the cutoff? How dispersed is the light pattern?
3000K sounds downright tasty! At the going $140 a kit I think it's definitely worth it if you use fogs often.

PS. I work in IT so while I'm working on projects etc I keep other windows open and I also surf on my blackberry at times, I love learning

Sent you a PM. Also inquired about a custom harness for the backup light in an 08 xb... Let me know.

Uber, you better get some HID fogs too. It's hard to soar with the Eagles if you're gonna stay at the bottom and hang out with the Ducks. Man, I don't even know what that means, but you get my drift.
