Has anyone used the weapon r engine torque damper? Anyone has an opinion? Pros and cons?

 

looks cool, maybe its overkill.

 

I have heard some bad things about torque dampers for cars but not sure how true it can be. But it was also in consideration with solid/poly motor mounts as well which have less give.

I have one. It moves the power band into a really nice spot but you will have to live with a little vibe when in reverse and sometimes at full stops. No doubt that it does what it claims though.

 

So according to the thread that CIONIDE posted, it transfer more sound into the cabin if you're driving an automatic. Also, the car gets louder, from my understanding on page 3?

I wanted to get one of these to plant the car more and gain more power, but if it's going to vibrate like hell and decrease the ride comfort, I'm definitely scratching this off my list.

 

it does make the car louder because it transferring all that energy into the subframe which turns into vibration and noise. You wont feel it all when the car is moving though.

It transfers vibration, noise and harshness. These things are made for race cars, not 158 flywheel hp street cars. If you're not racing your xB, then this is not a mod you want unless you're trying to out show your civic "fast & the furious" friends.

it sounds kinda cool in my opinion like you got something cool under the hood but like said above these are made for performance vehicles not dail driven cars. I take mine off and rock it at shows. I do want to point out again though it does make a noticeable difference in the driving experience of your car.

 

Not a 10 year old civic. so he's all good.

 

A poly front motor mount works a lot better and won't break and fall off like the W-R damper has been known to do.

 

An outboard torque damper moves the power band? I wouldn't have expected any power band impact. Just a little more onset torque since the engine doesn't rock as much when throttle is initially applied and released. That plus an increase in cabin noise and vibration, of course.

 

So, I got REALLY excited when I saw the "DIY engine damper" link, but its more of an install.

 

Wouldn't it be nice if it did! I hate to see people buying these flimsy dampers when I can't sell my superior GGP poly front motor mount. Both add in-cabin noise and vibration but a solid poly MM is never gonna break like so many of the cheesy Ingalls and WR dampers have.

If I had a MT I'd still be using this GGP MM but with an AT it was simply too much vibration at stop lights unless I dropped into neutral.
