Default How much oil do you usually drain?

My xB2 has about 85k miles on it now and I change oil each time the light comes on. I usually buy a 5 quart jug at Walmart and after adding just over 4 quarts of oil, I pour the old oil back into the jug.

I just changed oil today and found that I drained about 3 quarts of oil after draining for about 15 minutes. My last oil change which was cold I only got about 2.5 quarts.

As long as I can remember it's been about 3 quarts each time.

How much are you guys draining???

My suspicion is that it's burning some oil. I reckon there was only at most 1/4 quart of oil in the filter.

My car has a rough idle once in a while, gets real shaky for a little bit, but I think I haven't noticed it since I seafoamed the car.

Anything in particular I should check? PCV valve?

All of it... lol jk

Usually when its time for an oil change my engine will be about a quart low. The dirtier it is the faster it burns off. Going on 58k miles.

Don't know how much drained into my pan, but the dip-stick previously indicated a normal level and when I refilled it took the advertised 4-1/2 qts (near enough), so I'll assume that's about how much came out -- the pan was pretty full (including the filter contents). It'd been 4200 miles since the previous change.

At that mileage, I'd think the PCV valve would be a good suspect if you're going through oil.
