Thinking between tanabe touring or manaflow catback exhaust. How many cats are on our cars and cant i just take the tanabe delete the cat add a race pipe or straight pipe/ what would you do?

Ok so ur poll was very limited and didnt include the magnaflow you are considering... as far as i know we have 1 and a half cats... one right after the headers and the half is the resonator since it is part muffler part cat...

Depending on what you want sound wise... a straight pipe to an axel back with some sort of muffler i.e. HKS or Tanabe should have a nice loud deep sound... adding a fast-cat or glass pack will tone it down and might make it deeper too... Only problem is getting a shop to do it since it is emission control stuff...

Best of luck..

yeah, dont delete the cat... your box will never be fast enough to make a difference anyway, and we all breath the same air, dont be selfish... if anything, get a high flow cat, sell your stock one to a muffler shop and get a nice price break on a high flow.

I'm seriously looking at the Tanabe myself. I kinda like the classy look to it. Since both are axle backs, they should be about the same sound level and tone. Not loud.

I just could't see paying that much $$$ for straight pipes and a nice exhaust tip.

What year of type 1? I've been into type 1's, 2's, and 3's for everrrrr. IIRC, I saw a guy with an older Porsche 944 (I'm not even sure it was a 944 or what) with an STi motor.
