Thats what I did at first! lolbut with a newer head units, I pulled it out and replaced it with additional USB ports in its place. It doesnt fast charge which is was the whole reason for the MICTuning piece. I'm waiting for the newer Super Fast Charge model (if that ever happens.)

I lifted up the center tunnel/arm rest console and pulled out the old wiring and put this dual USB cable in its place

DUAL Plug USB Male AUX Flush Mount Car Boat Motorcycle Mount Extension Cable

If your head unit has additional ports for usb connections you can easily swap it out too.

I added the basic unit to my 8.0, but your photo made me have to question... I hate how easly the silver is getting scratches, did you by chance do the carbon fiber or did yours come that way and if you did it do you have the link and hopefully it wasn;t something for the 9.0 that were sol on

I did the carbon in my C-RV but can't find real that covers like yours does in the photos most is just stickers that leaves the edges exposed and doesn't look so correct to me.

Thank you for any ideals or tips on a full cover as you have

I am looking to do this mod, but is there anything that isn't so bright as this, or even better, no LEDs that would be a simple plug and play?

I am also looking into putting a port into the blank slot to the left of the steering wheel that will plug into the back of the head unit I have. Is that slot the same dimensions?

Should be similar size. Pull out ruler and verify. A lot of these vendors give you size of USB unit so you can check that it fits your car. How about this one? No gaudy lights!!!

Here’s mine.

Yeah these are super bright at night! I used a black sharpie and that took the curse off it.

One cool thing is that the USB sockets are bidirectional so you never have to flip the cord connector to insert.

I ran the 90 degree cord up to the steering column to power my phone when used as navigation.

Pics are pre sharpie…
