Default 2011 Armrest in my 2010 XB

After test driving numerous cars last month the first thing I noticed about the 2010 XB was the crappy joke of an armrest! When I learned the 2011 fixed this issue, I was sold on getting the 11 until my dealer rep called me offering the 10's for $199/month. That was an offer I couldn't refuse! So now I'm stuck with the crappy armrest until I can get my hands on this!

Oh how I want this! I've seen the modified versions some of you have installed and if the 2011 hadn't done this, I'd be on board with you, but to have a nice clean factory look...

I'll have to check with the dealer to see if they are available for order now. I'm also keeping my eyes open for nearby junkyards. I suspect the armrest would survive fine in a totaled XBox.

I'll be sure to post a followup with pictures of the install when it happens!

$199/month? Is that a lease? I wouldn't spend any money on the arm rest, I've become use to not using it.

Yes, $199 is a for a 3 year lease. The total interest for 3 years is only $775, so it was a great deal all the way around. Total due at signing was about $1,175 which included the first month's payment. The offer is good through September or whenever they run out of 2010's. I plan on buying it outright at that time for $11,000.

$700 is a bit much. However, I'm more interested in the install part. Did they mention if it was a direct swap?

Okay I had my dealer look this up for me today and my cost is $628 for the parts only! Their are 6 parts needed to complete the assembly. The main box with arm pad is $400 by itself. Needless to say, I'll be fabricating my own armrest thank-you-very-much. I'll post pictures of the project during construction and the finished installed armrest when I'm done.

WTF?!?!

Dang... I wanted to get it so that my iPod was "hidden" inside of it, but not at that cost!

Oh well.

@ZombiePunk: You can relocate the iPod into the current center console. That's one of the first mods I did with mine.

Right now I just have it plugged into the iPod jack and I placed it into the center console.... so it's pretty much hidden, other than a small portion of the wire showing. I just wish I had a plastic "cover" to go over it inside the console. I could probably make something on my own though.

I had the old version, and both my and my wife love the new one...I like the storage as much as the armrest though...
