Advice on fluids change
Guys, I just passed 70k on my '08 and have only ever gotten the oil and coolant changed fluid wise. I've heard if you don't change the tranny oil regularly then it is best to just leave it alone. Do you all agree? Also should I change any thing else right now like diff oil, brake fluid or steering?
Just so you know, I've rotated my tires, inspected the brakes and changed the filters regularly. Also, I had to get the water pump replaced @ 45k under warranty so that took care of the coolant change.
Anything else I am missing?

i would look at the transmission oil...on my 5 speed i changed the tranny oil at 70K that thing was black and smelly so it was time to go. doesn't hurt to swap out the brake fluid especially if it doesnt look yellow anymore...
Really? This thread is still open? I would have figured one of the moderators would come by and shut it down like they did to mine when I was just asking for help just like you were!

Since you're at 70k and your coolant has already been serviced due to the waterpump replacement (same thing with me), I would recommend inspecting the transmission fluid. I've read all over this forum that we have lifetime transmission fluid that will last the entirety of the transmission. The service manual actually requires that the fluid is inspected regularly to ensure it is optimal. I'm assuming that we're looking to see if there is any color change or any unusual build up in it. I have no idea what to look for on these new cars for transmission fluid, as all my car experience was for older, carburetor cars. And back then, if the color was bad, it was time to change it! Not sure on this one what to look for.
I'd recommend you get the transmission fluid inspected by a Toyota mechanic.
Then on your own, take a peek at your brake fluid and bleed it and top it off if you need to. At your low miles, you shouldn't have to worry about any other fluids so early in your vehicle's life. But I would take the time to investigate everything else on the car - shocks/struts, control arms, brake pads, rotors, ball joint, CV, etc.
You may also want to inspect the waterpump again to make sure you have the newer replacement model of it that is not keen to break down and also your motor mount. There are a few random users on the xB2 forums that have had bad motor mounts. I've never inspected one before and don't know what to look for, but my car kind of shakes when I'm decelerating. And this is not the kind of shaking that you'd feel if your rotors were warped or tires were worn unevenly - the shaking comes from within the engine bay and I haven't been able to track down the cause yet - so my first suspicion is the motor mount. Not to get off topic too much, but in my case it's hard to pin it down since I'm in an auto with 100k and my car is finding gears while I'm slowing down, so I'm not sure if it's transmission-related either. I'd only recommend you inspect the waterpump and your motor mount since you have a 2008 like me.
Hope this helps!
