Epidemic Water Pump Problem!
On another note, has anyone had problems with their A/C compressors? I have reason to believe mine is throwing around refrigerant oil via the compressor pulley, otherwise it's just road gunk.
Good point! I need to take a closer look at that "line" on my hood. It could well be from dirty water on the belt.
Can't say I'm experienced with this (hasn't happened to me yet), but if the line on the hood is a different color from the coolant in your overflow reservoir, then it probably isn't the coolant pump. From reading posts, I get the impression some (many?) no longer have intact shields under the engine and so "water" can splash onto the serpentine belt. This opens the possibility of road "water" being deposited by the belt onto the hood liner. "White-gray" doesn't seem probable for the water pump.
I understand your point, but it seems clear that in the cases of xB2 (2AZ-FE) coil packs and water pumps, the failure pattern is well established.

i guess you fail to realize that TOYOTA's have the same water pump problem also. hence the term ALL.....
^^ I saw that one coming, but I thought I'd let you speak for yourself Trevor.
