Default Its time for another round of HELP THA NEWBIE!

Whats poppin no less than 5 hours ago i became the first owner of a scion xb black sand pearl (pics will follow) completly stock. It runs so sweet and i like the slap stick. One quesiton. my ipod wont register with the sound system. everything hooks up and i changed the welcome mesage. It just wont charge or recognize it. ITs complelty stock (which is not bad btw) but can anybody help me????? everything else works except that... i reset the ipod and everything so whats wrong? or did i have to get the premium sound for it to work????

Hey there! congrats on ur new ride! You'll learn to love the box..

Anyway, only thing i could think of your ipod issue is that your ipod may not be updated. When was the last time u connected ur ipod to itunes and got the firmware update?

cause... you do need to have some what recent firmware to have our stereo recognize the ipod

Sometimes if you have a jacket or protective skin on the i-pod it prevents the chord from pluging all the way in.
I thought i-tunes was now 7.0 by now. At any rate the auto update should help on i-tunes.

Man... that stinks. I hate stuff like this because there's almost never an obvious path to resolving the issue. Is it the iPod, the cable, the HU, etc.? Hard to troubleshoot and it sucks that you have to waste time doing that when you should be enjoying your new ride.

For what it's worth... my iPod mini won't work with the Navi HU, but my iPhone works just fine. Bizarre.

My suggestion is probably too obvious, but make sure you use the supplied "iPod Interface Cable" that connects to the iPod dock port. I found my cable in the glovebox.

Maybe you could bring the whole setup to your dealer. I mean they have to make it work. Your system was designed for it to work. Make them figure out what's up with it. If you had problems, others must have. Did you buy the ipod new, used ebay? It maybe is defective yet, if it accepted updates it dosn't sound like the pod. hmmmmmmmm.

ok i will solve your problem right now...because all the scions come without our radios from the port the radio must be installed by the dealership so check the ipod harness that is behind the radio and make sure it is plugged in....if this harness is not plugged in the ipod will not be recognized and no features will work...
