i own a modified turbo volvo, and i do the oil change @ 5k as well. 80k+ miles, no issues.

0-20 oil synthetic = 25.00

oil change = free (do it myself)
Having my box perform as good as when i first got it = PRICELESS
Well I can tell you what... Im doing 5k OCI's on mine with 0W20 synthetics and it runs just as it did brand new. I could go 10k and still have it run "new". 3k OCI's are DONE with, oils have improved so much its worthless. 5K on conventional oil is the norm now, with synthetics running 7500-15000 miles, SAFELY.
I use the toyota oil and filter and change it every other 2500 miles while the toy dealer does it the other 2500 miles as they have a lifetime warranty on the engine.
It was still clean at 2500 miles. This includes about a 800 miles trip to wva and back at 74mph. My xa was dirty and wished I had change it sooner when I first got it.

I ve wanted to try just changing the filter as oil doesnt wear out, it just gets dirty and if abused, breaks down. I did try a trd vs toy oil filter and saw no difference in oil color. Both looked dirty at 2500 miles on my xa.

Color is NOT an indication of how the oil is doing. Oil does get "old" and needs replaced because of the additives inside of it. That is the most important thing inside of your motor oil. Once the additives are gone, your oil is shot.
curtisc, no real improvement that I have come across thus far, but then again, this will be my first winter having it inside when it matters. Otherwise, 0w20 and 5w20 will be very similar during summer months.
I use PP 0W20, inflate my tires to 37/39 PSI, and run a AFE Dry Flow Filter - With those, I average about 30-31MPG in summer, 27-28MPG in winter months. My best ever being 33MPG and worst at 26.5MPG.

Just sent in an oil sample to blackstone laboratories for an oil analysis... Will post the results when I get them back, most likely next week sometime I am thinking. We can see how PP 0W20 does in our engines! Ran it for a little over 5K.
