Ouch, so that is what it feels like when someone uses the vaseline with the gritt in it.

I paid like 14 bucks for the mobile 1 filter for my tacoma since the previous owner used them and mobile 1 oil.

I have used Mobil1 oil and now Penzoil Platinum. i think next time around i will go with which ever one i can get for cheaper out of the two and an STP filter... Changed every 5k should keep the xbox running smooth for a long time...

I was also at Autozone yesterday and looked at the Mobil! and STP side by side... evrything was the same constuction wise inside and out from what i could see (so sorry no cut in half view)... Also i noticed a few key things... All three (K&N, Mobil1, and STP are all stamped "AA" near the threaded part... and the STP and Mobil1 have almost the same numbers and letter codes on top.

If they are made by the same company, I would expect the housings to be the same, just wondering if anything is different internally.

I'm sure there is a difference in the two. The mobile 1 filters are designed to work up to 15k miles (extended oil change intervals). I doubt the stp can go that long but I'm sure its good for the normal 5k oil change intervals.
