reset maintenance light help!
Ok..i did a search so please don't flame me.
I pressed the odometer and tried the display button just in case i was using the wrong button. while the engine is off. held it down and turned it to the on position and supposedly it's supposed to blink 5x for the 5000 miles thing (read on the search).
however it blinked 7-8x and every time i start my car, the maintenance light blinks again. after the the 8 blinks, it goes off and won't come back on until i start the car again.
are there any suggestions as to what i'm doing wrong...or what is wrong?
btw..i just got my oil changed today.
thank you for your help/advice

Complete instructions:
Make sure your ODO is on Trip A before turning off the engine. Now with the engine off, hold the ODO/Trip Meter Reset button down & start the engine (or just turn the key to accessory on) while continuing to hold the reset button down. You will see 5 dashed lines that disappear one at a time over about 5 seconds. When they have all disappeared, let go of the reset button. You're done.
(Page 99 of the 2008 owner's manual, look it up if you have a different year, if you have any difficulty with it.)
