Default Shell V-Power

Question,

I know it is quite worthless to place higher octane gas in our xB's, but would a tank full of V-Power from Shell equivalent to say a bottle of fuel injector cleaner or something? And is V-power a strict high octane gas? Always been a little confused with its marketing. Also, if V-power is not a good way to go, what fuel cleaner to do suggest? I plan to use a bottle around every oil change (can't hurt), so need some suggestions.

Just looking for insight. I was gonna buy a bottle of Fuel injector cleaner just because, but thought of maybe just filling up with V-power but wanted to ask on here first.

Appreciate the help!

search for top tier gasoline.

shell, chevron, exxon, and some others. basically gas with detergents in them to clean engines and fuel lines and burn properly. don't waste your money on high octane unless you get your box boosted.

Yeah I already fill up at Shell all the time unless i'm forced to fill up elsewhere. Im just wondering if filling up with it once is comparable to using a bottle of cleaner instead?

it all comes from the same source but its what they add in the refineries that sets the difference between the marketing hype.

i think that a bottle of the cleaner in a cheapo tank of gas may be the equivalent to what shell has in their fuel. as for the higher octane i still with 89 cause i the engine does run a bit smoother and though its not really a scientific study but i notice that i get 1-2mpg better. as for the highest octane i think our lower compression doesnt really warrant the jungle juice.

octane has absolutely NOTHING to do with mpg. it is detonation resistance.

In fact, since higher octane fuels are more resistant to combustion, its possible that on a small scale, you could reduce power and fuel mileage. Theoretically speaking of course. The actual effect is probably negligible, but thats the idea. Fuel injector cleaner is probably more concentrated then whats in their premium fuel. But thats a rough guess, based upon my little bits of thinking.

I agree to do a search on top tier gasoline. All three grades of shell have the same additive used to keep the injectors clean. I still add a bottle of cleaner when I have an oil change.

I work for Mobil. The difference between the maor brands is just the additive package. The unbranded gasolines come from the same termianls as the major brands but don't use the same additive packages.

Your vehicle runs best and the most efficiently with the lowest octane you can use without getting detonation.

Don't waste your money on any bottled injector cleaner. Just use a brand name gas and you will not need anything else. I have never seen a car run lousy in my lfe because the injectors were dirty. I am sure it happens but VERY rarely. If it does, no mechanic in a bottle will fix it anyways.

We have an 87 Grand National that had been sitting for a while. After a few tanks with fuel system cleaner, and several new fuel filters, it runs just like it ran 3500 miles ago, off the showroom floor.
