Ok, so my '05 Tc with a M/T was able to lock the doors once it hit like 10-15 mph, so the technology exists, IIRC, did they just get cheap on the Xb now?

Default xB 2 Doors Autolocking at 12 mph

The manual says that owner can set this option himself. Have followed instructions and the doors lock and then unlock as it said it will while the car is still in neutral. However, the next time I start the engine and put the car (auto trans) into reverse, the car reverts to locking the doors again according to movement of the gearshift not to speed. Is there any way to make the system stay unlocked until the car is going around 12 mph permanently?

I have not had this problem but I have a manual transmission. Take it to the dealer and show him and, if it is under warranty, it should be fixed.

It tells you exactly how to set which option you want in the manual. when i got mine, it didnt have either a lock or an unlock option set. i set the doors to lock when it comes out of park and to umlock when it goes back in park. you dont even have to set an unlock option because when you pull the handle with the door locked, it unlocks.

the manual also states "Automatic Transmission only". i'm sure there is a way to do it, as there is everything else.
