Default Where’s the Third Generation posts?

Everyone seems to think there are only two generations of the xB Scion, however there are three.

Well, the first xB made it clear xB stood for extra boxy.

The second version has only brake lights, tail lights, and turn signals in the two rear clusters, with a single large reverse light on the left side of the bumper. It also has a very angular front, at each side, where the black plastic fillers are; where many folks add daytime running lights or LEDs.

The third version (the one I own) has done away with the single reverse light in favor of the rear light clusters on both sides having the signals, brake and running, and reverse lights. The front end where the plain black panel are is almost perpendicular to the ground.

All three vehicles are different.

I know this this when I parked next to a second generation and did a side by side comparison. There may be more differences, but those are the ones which were obvious.

As far as years go... mine is a 2012, which I believe is the same as 2011. The 2010 however is not the same.

Officially, Scion only produced 2 Generations of the Scion xB:

1. Gen 1: First generation (XP30; 2003–2006)
2. Gen 2: Second generation (E150; 2007–2015)

Some years like 2011, there were minor changes to the exterior body, including a revised front and rear bumper, new front grille, and new headlights and tail lights.
For the 2013 model year, Scion made a few enhancements including remodeled front and rear bumpers and a few interior upgrades including the optional BeSpoke radio.
There were other changes in other Model Years but, regardless Officially, there are only 2 Generations of the xB:

Scion xB

Scion xB to be dropped at the end of the year

Sorry ricnoval, but an exterior styling facelift without changing the motor/chassis/transmission/platform/etc.does not equal a different generation of the vehicle.

There are only 2, as LUV stated.

Question Gen2 variations?

As a newbie thinking about an xB, it appears that differences are cosmetic. Therefore IMO an xB between "08 and '15 should perform equally?
So try to find one in satisfactory condition with reliable maintenance history along with the least amount of mileage?

Does that sound like a plan?

I wish Scion was still around to make a third generation version and not just a refresh

I know this response is months late, but it would go for post 2010. 08-10 there was a recall for the water pump.

I am now the Proud Owner of a 2009 xB "Hoobdie" with 200K and will likely need advice?

Currently replacing both fenders and PCV and breather hoses!
