Quietest Tires
Hi All,
I wanted to get everyone's opinion on quiet tires. I did some research and it looks like Goodyear Assurance Comfortreds are very good in this category. However, I did read some negative things about these
a) since they're focused on soft quiet ride, the tires are too soft and boaty
b) grip on the tires are horrible.
As far as Assurances, there are TripleTreds, but these are significantly louder. Also, I considered Yokohama AVS db's, but they don't make them in 205/55/16.
Did anyone have any suggestions?

I asked for a performance tire to replace the crappy yokohama's. It was wintertime in Houston, so the best they could do in short time was a the continental touring tire. I'm very picky about performance, and surprisingly I've found the handling, wear, and roadnoise (the order of my priorities) to be much better than I expected.

By "goodyear triple assurance" are you referring to the triple treds? if so, reviews indicate it's much louder than the comfortreads.
Also, as far as "continental conticontact," which conticontact are your talking about? There are many conti-***-contact name tires, ie conti-touring-contact, conti-premium-contact, etc.

I just got some Goodyear comfortreds last week. They seem to handle about as well as the oem goodyear eagle rs-a tires that were on it before. The ride is much quieter.

Can you comment a little more? What can you say about the turn in? Did u note much sidewall flex?
I'm saying from person experience the Nitto INVO's .. Not a single screetch at 430whp.. By far quietest and grippy street/performance tires.. make sure to get at 225.. nice tires..
i ran the invos only lasted about 2000 miles the backs still look brand new i have alot of power i went to some bfg drag radials they will be here this week the invo are awesome though just not soft enough for me
your post isn't quite coherent. based on what i'm reading, you used the invo's and was only able to get 2000 miles out of it. however, your rear tires were still fresh (so i'm assuming the fronts were bald after 2000 mi?). your car has alot of power (not sure why this is even relavent unless you don't know how to drive or went to a peel out show). and you eventually switched to drag radials (past tense). but the tires will be here this week (present/future tense). invo's are good, but not soft enough. this post alsmost doesn't belong here.
sorry, I have nitto invos on the car. They are very quiet. The only complaint i have is i have alot of hp causing spinning. So the tires in the front went bald very fast. On the other hand the backs are fine they still have the tire hair on them. I needed something that would handle my near 400whp ft pounds so i ordered some drag radials. All in all the invos are amazing they hold a corner very well.
Since you're in So Cal, there are some things to consider. You don't need an All Season tire due to the fact that AS tires thrive in cold weather, and temperature Changes. Performance tires are better for high temperature climates, and don't worry all performance tires are good in wet weather. Here's the problem, Life and grip don't go hand in hand when it comes to tires. If you want long life, you're going to sacrifice a little handling and Vice versa, if you want great handling, you're going to sacrifice life. Example in the life scale, a H rated tire will most likely last longer than a W/Y rated tire but not handle AS WELL. Remember it's all relative an H rated tire is still rated at 130mph. However, the misconception about tires is how they handle at lower speeds. A W/Y rated tire WILL HANDLE BETTER AT 70MPH THAN AN H RATED TIRE!!! Also, typically speaking the tread compound on lower speed rated tires tends to be a little harder than higher speed rated tires, therefore contributing to more road noise. Now that I've rambled, hopefully you have some things to work with. This is what I do for a living, and haven't been to work in 4 weeks since my ACL surgery, I'm eager to get back, can you tell??? Here are some suggestions in a 205-55-16:
