Default tire size question for 20s

So I'm getting a set of TiS Model 09...20x8.5 +38mm offset...i wanted to see if anyone here could tell me if a 245/35/R20 Nitto Invo tire would work with no rubbing...the specs are:

Nitto Invo 245/35/ZR20
Suggested Rim Size - 8.0 - 9.0"
Overall Diameter - 26.77"
Overall Width - 9.53"

the 245/30's diameter is 25.83"

i also looked up a 235/35 tire (seems to be what most people are running) NT555 nitto tire with the following dimensions...

Nitto NT555 235/35ZR20
Suggested Rim Size - 8.0 - 9.5"
Overall Diameter - 26.42"
Overall Width - 9.57"

am i wrong in thinking that the 245/35 tire should work just fine? i mean, the overall width is is a hair smaller than the 235s, diameter increase doesn't seem as though it would pose a problem , and the Suggested Rim Size is the same...

any input/advice??

Thanks in advance,

CPL McMillan

go with the 235s
no need to go as wide as 245 -- you're not driving a 4x4

and, most likely the 235s will weigh less than the 245s
weight savings, no matter how small, while riding on 20s is important

i have 235s on mine

I think you will need 235/30/20 not 35

x2. That's what I'm planning on doing with mine. 235/30/20's for sure!

no, go with the 35series -- it will fit

i originally made the mistake of following TireRack's recommendation of a 30series tire -- and after 1 cracked wheel and 2 dented wheels, i went with the 35series for more sidewall cushion

it fit fine, and no more wheel damage from the 'great' chicago roads

the reason i was asking if a 245/35 would fit is because the Nitto Invo isnt offered in a 235/35 or 235/30...

and though the tire may be wider than necessary, but functionality wise...would a 245/35 tire fit without rubbing issues?

or even, can you guys give me some tires to check out that are 235/35? i've searched a handful of websites and got about 2 results for that size...

thanks again,
Cpl McMillan

Can anyone help me with this question? I'm buying my xB on Friday, and would like to buy the rims same day...

Thanks,

245 series will be too large. If you want to stick with Nitto, check out their NeoGen line. They have the smaller size's in a 20". Toyo also makes some great tires. I'm a fan of the Proxes4's from them.

The 245's will be a bit much, the Neogens are a great suggestion for an alternative.

go with 235/35.

245's? like Travis said "bit too much"

30's is not a smooth ride.
