Hi guys, I had a major electrical short when installing a new alternator and I've got every light on my dash lit up now, windows no longer work, fried the driver side door switches (I replaced already), fried the new alternator (replaced already), found my battery was bad
when testing the alternator at AutoZone after the new one arrived (replaced the battery), fried the fusible link (replaced already), blew a 7.5A under the dash and a 30A under the hood (both replaced and shorts no longer present), and blew the ABS module (already replaced).
When AutoZone read the Code for me it was P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor A, so I tried replacing the VSS on the top of the transmission and that did nothing (taking it back to AutoZone).
The car runs, but has no speedometer, no odometer changes, shifts at the wrong places and very hard, idles way too low to the point I expect it to die while idling, and of course, the Christmas tree lights on the dash.
Really hoping you guys have some ideas on this one. I've been fighting with this failure for almost 2 months now and the wife is getting a bit upset that her car has been out of commission so long.
Thanks for the help! Actually, that's the same page I found on google. I already tried replacing the VSS and it didn't work. Does that mean the computer is bad? I don't know how to diagnose it and they are a bit expensive to "buy and try".
