Thanks for the comment. I've actually had mine on now for a couple of months. I put my experience up in this thread

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sho...45#post3509345

instead of here. I really like it so far. I put on the hps intake also and it seems to make a really good combination.

To you guys that have gone with a custom catback, did you really notice a power increase? Anyone replace the cats and resonator?

I ask because the shop I"m using here in Baltimore recommends I just replace the stock 1.5 pipe after the resonator with a custom 2.25, then a good axleback like Precision/MagnaFlow, etc (I was going to use Strup just because I like the sound). They said it would be a waste of money to do MagnaFlow resonator and "free flow" cats...

Thoughts?

I don't remember for sure, but to me the power didn't seem to increase much. My only way to tell though was by how the CA felt to me. I did have a noticeable improvement in gas mileage though, as well as the expected increase in sound.

Well, I don't know what happened, one minute I was just google-ing "custom performance exhaust, Maryland" while waiting in line at Target, the next thing I know, I was at MBS Performance Exhaust having them make me a custom MagnaFlow catback exhaust! (High-flow cat, 14-inch resonator, 2.25 stainless piping, 14-inch muffler, matt-black custom tip)

To tell you the truth, I really wish I would have taken the advice of the first shop and just done the Strup axle-back. It would have given me the sound I wanted, it would have been MUCH cheaper, power gain is negligible, and my wife wouldn't give me the stink-eye every time she rides in my car (pretty damn loud).

I'll do a short vid tomorrow. Not familiar with JE but I've heard good things about Swift Racing Technologies (www.swiftracing.com). I'm actually thinking about turbo, been talking to STI about a low boost set up using one of their universal kits, still not convinced it'll work nor sure if I want to spend the $$$, we'll see....

It'ld be cool if you turbo'd your car. One thing that would sell getting a turbo on the car to the wife is that turbos steal your exhaust note, so it should be quieter! Good luck man.

WHy does the wife have to bust them man?
So when you guys are talking about custom cat-backs, You guys are talking about having a custom exhaust installed with 2.25 in pipping from the cat-covert back correct? Is this something that would be good to change? like a high flow. I was going to buy the TRD (simply just so i could say, i have a trd pipe) but they are not cheap. HMMM choices.

Depends on what you want to pay, you could go with a header back and remove the cats and resonators if you want to go ***** out with the project.

I'm with Yelosub, Strup axle-back, done. It'll sound great, make your car more fun to drive...but won't drive you insane in daily traffic or long trips. I spent big on custom cat-back and regret it....and yes...wife still bustin on me!
