Muffler for 2008 xD
Newly registered here. I have a 2008 xD with 186,00 miles on it that we bought new. My wife absolutely LOVES it so we've kept it up all these years and maintained it pretty well, considering the winters here in Vermont. I recently had to replace the exhaust from the manifold back, and now the muffler is sounding just a bit throaty and louder. Mechanic says it is likely because the baffles in the muffler are worn and with a new exhaust the sound is more noticeable. (The bend pipe up front had some pinholes in it and was leaking a bit.) The exhaust cost me way more than I wanted to spend (she loves the car, remember) and I guess a muffler from the dealer is going to be outrageously priced as well. Are there any other mufflers that might work? Not looking for increased performance (or sound) necessarily. Just want to keep it on the road without the same hefty expense I just went through with the rest of the exhaust.
Thanks for any and all help with this.

I bought a stainless steel "sport" muffler from Amazon. It cost me about $250, which isn't a bad price for a full-stainless exhaust piece. The gasket that came with it was too thin to make a seal, so I had to use a common off-the-shelf thick gasket, but otherwise it's been no problem. After 2 upstate NY winters, it still looks good.

Thanks for †he reply. By any chance do you remember what company made it?
Was it specifically for an xD?
I'll try a Search and see if I can come up with something.
Thanks again.

Put your vehicle info in, and Amazon will tell you which fits and which doesn't. Stock may have changed over the last 2 years.
And, no, I assume it was initially made for a Toyota Yaris. They have the same exhaust, and mostly the same engine/transmission/suspension.
