Default Smaller belt for replacement?

Hey All! Thanks for letting me jump in the pool. I love this Scion forum idea! I got my 2008 xD 5 speed in 2016 & LOVE it. Maybe a couple of years ago, my A/C compressor died. The annoying sound has calmed down, but I'm nervous that it's reefing on the
other belt related parts. In the 44 years that I've had my drivers license, I've never needed air conditioning (it's cool where I live). Mechanical friends have suggested that I get a shorter belt to skip the A/C. Another person is sure that it will also give me more Zip!

Seems like the outside circumference would be around 945 mm (?). Anybody out there have any nuggets of wisdom on this?

With AC off, compressor-clutch is disengaged and pulley is freewheeling.
It's not adding any load to engine.
Negligible difference with removing belt completely.

Big Thanx for the reply DannoXYZ !. I'm glad to hear that nothings getting hurt , but it still makes a ticking sound . I guess that trying to find a shorter serpentine belt is a pipe dream ( or is that " a bridge too far )
