The TRD turbo kit for the first gen Yaris TS came with replacement ECU tuned specifically for that kit.

FIC? Emanage? Standalone?

I'm really interested on how the engine management part of the project goes. Mainly because the Yaris guys have had a nightmare trying to tune the car for FI using the common piggybacks. I know of 4 people that have tried the FIC with no success. One of them even took it to AEM and even they were not able to figure out how to make it work ok.

I don't have the exact details of what were the problems... I just know they are having problems with it.

Since, you don't provide the engine management solution along with the kit, would you at least give a recomendation about it? Or some pointers in order to make it work?

I think that would be a critical aspect in order to make this kit succesfull..!

Keep up the good work and keep us posted.
Were they cutting and splicing wires? Or did they have some sort of harness to use?

cutting and splicing as there is no P&P harnes available for the Yaris... same as there is no (nor will be) harness for the xD

CASTREX is correct...Unfortunately, there is no plug-n-play harness yet for the xD...However, UMS Tuning here in Az will be hardwiring the AEM FIC and doing the tuning and dyno'ing so it is in good hands...

Stuff should be going to coater Wednesday and maybe dyno late this week...If not, dyno will be next week...

Just so you guys know, this is going to be as much of a surprise to you as it is me...I have not seen any pictures and have not been to Todd's since I dropped my car off... I keep in touch with Todd almost daily mostly by text because he is very busy...

I'm hoping to get my car back within the next couple weeks...I sure miss my xD, but i'm sure the finished product will be worth the wait...

Got a text from Todd Saturday saying that he should have some pics Tues or Wed of the turbo installed...Then the gauges get wired and then it's off to UMS for the the wiring of the AEM FIC, tuning, and then dyno...I'm hoping and praying I get it back next week sometime...

PLEASE try to gather as much details as possible from the FIC installation and tunning process.

This is the KEY to having some aftermarket FI support....

If these guys can make the FIC work properly on this car and can provide some guidance regarding the installation... then I will be saving my pennies for this kit. The quality of Todds kit is not a worry, I'm sure it will be top notch... is the electonics...

...And by working properly I mean they are able to tune fuel and timing in both close and open loop with no poping CEL's.
To some, the part thottle tune might no be that important but depeding on the turbo you select and how soon the engine sees boost it could be crtical.

Keep the updates coming!!!

We want to see pics!

I will...And I want to see pics too...LOL...It's been 35 days and I have not seen a thing...Todd lives pretty far from me so I have not been to his house since the day I dropped it off...Todd says he has taken lots of pics for me...I know the wait will be worth it in the long run, I'm excited to see Todd's magic...

Also, Todd assures my that with the fic there will be NO CEL's, that is why we went with it...With the Greddy, you will have a CEL and I didn't want that...

Ok, stuff took longer than expected at powder coater but from what Todd said they are done and he is picking the parts up in the morning...He's installed the gauges and he also agreed to build me a full exhaust... So far I have not seen any pics and have not ventured over to his house to see anything...Waiting for the big surprise just like the rest of you... Hopefully the turbo will be installed over the weekend or early next week, exhaust parts get here Tuesday, and then off to UMS for the scary stuff (AEM FIC, tune, and dyno)...Praying all goes well...

As far as a transmission cooler, I asked Todd and he said to hold off so for now it's a NO...

Todd assures me he has been taking pics of the progression so there is no need to bother him with it...Would I like to see pics, absolutely but I know he's busy...If I don't get pics before I pick up my car oh well...As long as Todd has pics saved for me of the entire progress from the beginning to the end then I will be happy...

Update...Talked with Todd on the phone Friday evening...Said that he picked up pieces from powder coater and that he will start installing most of it on Monday...By the way Todd says the parts look sick...Will install exhaust on Tuesday...Has to still pick up mani and dp which is already done and waiting to be picked up from the coater...Possibly off to tuner's by the end of the week...So maybe just maybe I will have my car back by this next weekend, if not I will probably have it back the following week...Keeping fingers crossed...
