Default 2010 Pioneer Std radio loses memory

I have noticed that my Pioneer radio seems to lose its memory of my custom greeting and ssp vehicle selection. This seems to only happen when the car has not been started for over a day or more. If I leave on a 3 day trip for work, when I get back to the airport parking lot the radio has defaulted to xB ssp neutral and my custom greeting is back to 'SCION.' All of my station presets are still there but that's about it. Is this normal, or is it worth taking up as a warranty issue with scion? Has anyone else had this problem and found a fix?

I called scion customer experience and they hadn't heard of this issue before at all. The gentleman I spoke to said he's going to get in touch w/Pioneer to see if the unit is supposed to return to any sort of defaults after a set period (my guess is it isn't) so I now have my first case no. registered so far only a month in.

typically this happens if the ground is set up incorrectly.
but its the stock radio right?
that doesnt make any sense.

Yes it's the stock radio. I heard back from Scion customer experience today and the fellow there did some research and couldn't find anything that explained why this might be happening. He told me to take it in to the dealer and to reference my case no. for possible warranty repair. The unfortunate part about this is that I'll have to leave the car there for several days so some technician can re-create the problem and go 'oh yeah...hmm that's strange let me see what I can find out.' I knew there was a reason I hadn't sold my echo yet.

Hey - I know this is WAY late in reference to your original post, but I just "upgraded" my 2009 xB with 2010 Pioneer HU that I got from ebay. I had the EXACT same memory problem that you did! So I ended up getting another one from ebay - and had the exact same problem again!! Did you ever get yours fixed, and they tell you what the problem was? I got the 2010 Alpine upgrade, but I don't like the sound as much as the Pioneer (when they are working). NO memory problems with the Alpine, though...

Thanks.

Jeff,

My seemed to resolve itself the longer I had the car. I would get back to the parking lot after a 4 day trip and everything would still be there. I found it quite strange. I ultimately purchased the Alpine HU off eBay because I was under the impression that it might have better sound. Additionally, almost all of my presets also broadcast at least one channel of HD radio so that was also a big factor in my decision to upgrade. As far as the sound differences, I too liked the pioneer better. I installed a low profile sub-woofer under the front passenger seat (here) and that went a real long way to help the Alpine IMO. Speaking of eBay, if you use the same username, I believe I sold you one of your Pioneer head units. Did you end up buying the Alpine from that toyotascion1176 guy off eBay too?
