I'd love to get the symbols on the left and right side to be white instead of orange. I like the gauge colors actually

Perhaps I should have started with the cluster, as noted above, the clock is plcc4 LEDs and there is a trick to getting plcc2 LEDs to work in that location. You have to look to see which 2 of the 4 connectors are jumped, and then offset the LED a little and only solder the plcc2 LED to the other two connectors... It worked after some trial and error. I had the most excellent help of a Minneapolis Scikotics member that goes by the name of iaminsider in the Scikotics forum.

Here is the end result! Oh and if you are going to do the clock or passenger seat airbag lights in the center above the HVAC unit on the xD, make sure to order plcc4 LEDs. Garage1217 was also a great help as he IM'd for a bit on the technical issue of putting plcc2's in place of plcc4's, Thanks Garage!!!

!

dear god

it's beautiful.

Brilliant!

Must say tho you stoll my idea to fade the blue into the red in certain areas. We are going for the same lighting effects I've seen you do also lol.

good job, I like it!

Thanks... I did not do the HVAC, the main gauge cluster and the clock, airbag on, airbag off and passenger seat belt lights in the center console.

Not sure who if anyone has done the xD HVAC, but you might want to ask Garage1217.

For my HVAC I used modified #74 wedge bulbs as they have a twist socked bulb for lighting. & for the buttons, I used a plcc-2. I cut off the stock button led's at the base & soldered the plcc-2 directly to the posts.

Sweet!

How about for the gauge itself? I read some places it's PLCC-4, and some places PLCC-2.

gauges are 100% plcc-2 as with all scions.

Yep.. Listen to Garage, he knows what he is talking about! The only oddballs on mine were the ones in the clock area out of the middle console. For some reason mine were plcc4's in that location, and it's the only ones I've heard of like that so far. Just pop that panel off and look at the LEDs if the have a separate distinct solder connection in each corner they are plcc4's, if it is a complete solder connection across 2 opposite sides of the LEDs then they are plcc2's.

just finished a messy job on the clock module, thought a pic would help anyone who wanted to swap they're leds. gonna warn anyone who decides not to have a pro like jeremy do them, be CAREFUL. those plcc4's are tiny. like, grain of rice tiny. melted a couple of them trying to do the swap. also, there's two tennsy tiny leds for the passenger selt belt not locked and the hazard flasher . dont F with them. i managed to destroy one of the contacts that the led mouunts to on the curciut board from not being careful enough. so now my hazard button doesnt flash when you push it. im not missing it, but i feel stupid for messing it up. i was gonna try to install the tiny 608 leds in those spots, but i think i messed up on my order form and they didnt come so when i tried to put the originals back on i pulled one of the contacts off the board. gonna need to get a better soldering iron before i attempt the gauge clusters. props to jeremy for the leds and the w kary for motivating me to try this finally. sry for the crappy quality of the pics, no idea how to operate my wife's new camera.

Yeah... a good soldering iron will help. Looks nice. I left the hazard light alone as if that is on, then that flashing red is not a big deal to me. I opted to use the colored film Garage sells to change the color of the Passenger Seat Belt Light. It was tough getting it set down in that tiny hole, but it came out great. Looking good though, you'll be really happy once you do your main gauge cluster... it looks so much better than pictures can ever show. I had mine to the dealership for service today and had several service representatives peeking in the car and going how did you do that? That is cool...
