Default Need sound system advice!

Hello all!

I have a bone stock '08 xD with the basic sound system. I have the means to upgrade either the head unit or the speakers but not both.

Which upgrade would you do first?

Thanks in advance!

personally, head unit. i tried doing a 10" sub, but there are no rca outs on the pioneer t1809 or whatever model we have. needless to say, i have a nice system sitting in my car not being used because i couldn't get a signal to the subs. get a head unit you like that will support the direction you want to go. if you don't plan on subs, just upgrading door speakers/tweeters, then do those first and worry about the head unit later

I run the stock radio with an 12" L7 and it sounds great. Just use a LOC and splice into the back speakers and run it under the trim pieces.

Yeah I'm not planning on subs anytime soon. This is a daily driver/grocery getter and kid taxi. Someday I might be able to play with it. I used to be involved with car audio many years ago but I know things have changed in 15 years.

Thanks guys! I think I'll just upgrade to speakers with a better range.

Riiiiiiight. There has to be some shooping there. I have never seen glass flex like that. The roof sure I can see. To get that kind of resonance you'd need about 150dB+ and that would blow eardrums out in a hurry.

Hooooly shiat. Please accept my apologies for being skeptical! Please learn from my dumb ___ though. Wear some hearing protection. I'm (almost) 39 years old and already have significant hearing loss as a direct result of too much booming!
